I haven't gone off the pill but I have had pain for 3 years now in my pelvic area. Especially on the left. It is every day a dull pain and sometimes sharp pain that goes into my back and down my legs. I wonder if I went off the pill if it would feel better myself. The doctor told me it wouldn't change anything.
ok i am just gonna hop right in on this cause i also have a question about this. i was diagnosed a month ago. i actually had to be brought to the emergency room because i had so much pain from a cyst.... so this resulted in being diagnosed. i am now on bcp and this past week i have been have pains. so i am wondering if i have a cyst. it was my understanding that i am on the bcp so i can ovulate and to stop cysts from coming back, am i wrong in thinking that? can they come back even on the pill?

I think that some cysters have changed their diets to help prevent cysts, others are using (if I remember correctly) Met. to help control cysts. I don't know if BCPs help cysts, sorry. Maybe someone else will know.
well i had to stop bcp cuz it was causing my pains worse. always on my left side. when i was on both met/gluc xr, i didnt ever have a period. going thru medical records it showed i did o

In theory b c pills are supposed to stop cysts from forming since they stop the body from producing an egg each month. Even though we don't ovulate we still produce the beginning egg, it just never matures and ovulates properly. THis is where the breakdown occurs in us. Since we may go months or years without cycling properly there is a buildup of many small cysts in our ovaries. This can make them appear enlarged or give the string of pearls effect. When beginning bc pills I too get ovarian pain but have determined that I feel much better on some pills than others. I usually lose the ovarian pain issues by the 4th month on the pill. I do believe it is possible for one of these smalll cysts to grow and rupture though and this could be causing your pain. My ovaries have been shut down so long on these things that I don't get that anymore and my ovaries are finally almost normal sized. Hope this helps and good luck with the pain. Ibuprofen helps a bunch!
