Question BCP's with Met

Hello girls.
I started met about 6 weeks ago and am already up to 1500mgs. The doctor said i should take BCP's too to regulate the hormone levels and hopefully get my cycle "started" again. Now, I hate taking bcp's because they make me feel strange, which is why I stopped tkaing them 18 months ago ( and subsequently made the discovery of the PCOS) . BCP's make me feel odd, sluggish, tired and all sorts of things so id rather not take them. THe question is - do I have to take bcp's along metformin? When I started met, i got a period within a week of starting it, even tho I had not finished a pill pack...so it obviously works. What if i stop taking the bcp's? Anyone else have a similar prescription?

Any suggestions welcome...!

Thanks
Annie

Yes, I was on met and bcp for the last 18 months. I was given the same reason you were given. I hate bcp too, but I stuck with it, knowing that I wanted to give my ovaries a rest, so that when I wanted to ttc again, my body might do what it is supposed to to normally. Now that said, I never got an af with met alone, so the situation could be different with you. Good Luck!

Hi. I'm on bcp and met. I feel fine. I don't have any problems. The only problem I had was the Met. (side effects), but everybody's body is different.
