I was on bcp's for 18 months and during that time didn't have ANY PCOS symptoms. My acne was gone, i stopped growing black facial hair, my hair stopped coming out, my painful periods were regulated, lighter and no longer painful, i lost weight. Everything was normal. When i came off bcp's to start ttc, my symptoms went crazy and all came back with a vengence. (I'm currently on no medical treatment for my PCOS) Does this mean when I am put on medications to help me ttc, it should happen for me? If bcp's took my symptoms away, should the hormone treatments to help me achieve pregnancy work? Thanks!
What bcp's helped you?
Maybe metformin will help in lowering the androgens and helping with the pcos symptoms. And will help you to ovulate and get pregnant.
Bcp's help to regulate your hormones. It doesnt always "fix" all the problems but helps. Alot of drs that specialize in fertility will put you on bcp's for 2-3 mons. to help reglate you before starting any fertility meds like clomid. Its hard to say what your body will do. It may respond to one type of med but not the other.
You may want to talk to your dr about metformin. Maybe you could get pg on that alone w/out clomid.

I was on Monofemme. (not sure if it's just an Australian one...and i haven't been able to find anything about it online). Oh, and when coming off the BCP to ttc, I didn't have a period for 6 months so I don't think it would help bring my period. *shrugs* not sure.
