This maybe a stupid question....so I apologize if it is indeed a stupid one, but this has been nagging at my brain for a couple of days now and figured I should ask.
My question is : Do BCPs effect testosterone levels enough for a doctor to assume you do not have PCOS?
I'm FINALLY being tested for PCOS. My doctor believes I do infact have it, but would like to see my testosterone levels. My doctor placed me on BCPs in April and waited to do labs until my insurance kicked in. So now I'm worried that my testosterone levels will be normal due to the pill and I will not have the confirmation of having PCOS like I've waited for for so long! So now I'm worried...I know I shouldn't but I know I have it, my doctor believes I have it...its all about the test results and I'm freaking out.

Yes, it can effect your testosterone and bring you down a level that is considered normal. That is why they normally want you to be tested 3 months off birth control to have the most "normal" test results. Mine were normal on the pill and totally wacko (off the charts) off the pill. But maybe the pill doesn't mask all your results and one will be off.... good luck!

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it doesn't effect the levels too much...but I'm pretty sure in the two almost three months I've been on BCPs, it has lowered my testosterone levels and so I'm curious to see my lab results. Thank you for the answers! Its very much appreciated!

I just received my test results back and my testosterone levels were normal, however, some of my other results were not, so I'm crossing my fingers that maybe that will lead to something. I'm kinda bummed but I guess I will have to test my testosterone levels again once I'm off the BCPs.
