I have bad acne and have tried pretty much everything. I have not wanted to use birth control pills but now I am desperate enough. Do they help with acne and with excess facial hair? If so, which ones are best? Thanks for any help.

I found that Dianne 35 worked very well for both problems. Takes a few months to start working, and the effects lasted for 3-6 months after I stopped taking it as well. I found other types of pill actually made the acne worse.

Dianette works very well for me too. When I'm not on it my skin is terrible, and then when I'm on it I don't get any spots at all! I didn't want to take bcp either, but Dianette's definitely worth it.
I was on Estelle which was fantastic - no spots, no oily skin and no greasy hair at all. I know it works cos about 4 months after going off, everything came back (with a vengeance!). Good luck!
hi margaret,
i also took bcp's for 3 months and it improved the mild acne i had. i tried the low dose which is orthocylen lo it rocked hehhe. But i just stopped taking it cause im ttc ! but good luck to you.
I was on ortho tri-cyclen for years and loved it! My face was never bad, but on tri I hardly ever broke out! Not sure if it helped with the hair or not, I was also on Spiro. hth
diane-35 really helped my acne, i only have good things to say about it. you can get the antiandrogen in this pill (cyperatone acetate) prescribed by itself if you don't want to take the pill.
