Hi,

Ive found a few posts on here saying that some bcps actually increase androgens. Loestrin 24, which is what I am on, seems to be making all of my symptoms worse - I have crazy cystic acne that I havent had in years, AF is out of control irregular, and hair isnt even usually an issue for me but I think body hair might even be increasing.

My doctor said that he wants to do a D and C because the pills arent stopping my bleeding (it stops part of the day, but then comes back). He doesnt want me to switch to another pill, but after reading these posts, it seems that the pill IS actually doing more harm than good.

I was diagnosed via ultrasound and symptoms and never had my hormone levels checked - would like to ask about this and about Met, but my GYN just wants to treat the AF issue and told me to check for diabetes with my regular doctor, and I dont think my regular doctor is going to be very PCOS friendly. Is there any supporting articles I could show them on these topics?

So far from what I've found, it seems Yaz or Yasmin works best for PCOS symptoms related to excess androgens.. My doc just gave me a prescription for yasmin 28 and the pharmacy gave me the generic ocella 28, soo we'll see how it goes.. If I don't react badly I can save some money but if I do, I'll be demanding the name-brand..
