Question BCPs and Cysts

I know I have always heard of people going on BCP to shrink some of the cysts that they have. But my question is ..........Is it possible to get NEW cysts while ON bcp? I have been having some cramping and pain, not time for af, and just feeling kind of bad and was wondering if it is possible that I have some cysts.

Thanks in advance!!!!!

I'm not positive, but I think it is definitely possible, because even women without PCOS get cysts from time to time. It's just different because most women get one at a time and years apart, so they never even realize it because it never causes problems.

I had cysts on Yasmin. But, my dr and I were pretty sure I was ovulating while on Yasmin, as well. Don't know what pill you're on, but I think the low dose BCP's can straighten out some PCOSers enough that we actually ovulate while on BCP's, and have cysts.

You know, now that I think about it, I think it is definitely possible. I had an abdominal CT this year, for an unrelated problem, but the note came back that I had very prominent ovarian cysts. I had already been on BCP for more than a year at that point. Either they weren't shrinking, or I was still getting them.

Thank you all for your replies......I am definitely going to go to my dr and ask about this. Bad thing is, it won't be until June.....ugh......I have no more time to take off work. I have a feeling that is what the feeling is cause I stay crampy and with a slight twinge of pain every once in a while.

Yep, that's what mine was like. I had sharp, shooting pains about 1 day a week, and it was especially bad when I bent over. The rest of the month was a dull cramping on and off. Good luck!
