Default Which BCPs prevent cysts from forming more so than others?

I'd like to speak to my OBGYN about trying to shrink the cysts on my ovaries (if possible) and/or prevent further cysts from forming. Are there any specific BCPs that I should look into? So far, I've tried Yaz and Yasmin and both made me crazy. I'd prefer a low-dose pill (ultra low dose would be even better!). Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks so much.

Well, the least androgenic the better, and Yasmin and Yaz are the best in that respect. Others you could consider are Mircette/Mercilon, Marvelon/Desogen (got rid of my cysts completely), and maybe Ortho-Lo, though I'm not as familiar with that one.

Thank you so much!! I was doing some research, and it looks like Mircette is one of the ultra-low dose pills on the market. I'll definitely ask my doctor about that one. Thanks again.

You're welcome! I really hope it makes you feel better and does the trick! Just some advice - often on pills with very low oestrogen, even if the progestin is anti-androgenic, there is less binding activity occuring (which is basically the oestrogen controlling the androgen activity and making acne less likely), so you may have a few more spots than usual, but this will probably settle!

xx

I used the generic form of Desogen (Apri) for a year to lose weight and clear up all those icky cysts. Worked like a charm for me. My PCOS symptoms were almost completely non-existent on the pill, and I felt so good without all those horrid mood swings and such. Also it allowed us to get pregnant on the first cycle after stopping. I was seriously shocked how well it worked for me.
