BEAUTY
Everything human -
Is leaving my face.
Such a beast -
I am.
Femininity seems so out of reach -
Like a mountaintop, royalty -
Winning the lottery -
Having a child.
So far -
From my own reality.

He says he finds me "pretty".
Not me.
Pretty is reserved for cheerleaders -
Barbie dolls -
Girls who have smooth faces -
Women who can reproduce.

Pretty is NOT a -
Rough skinned face
Barren womb
Moody freak.

Pretty is NOT -
Me.

We have felt like that at one point or another. But like they say beauty is only skin deep. Thank God for the men who don't want Barbie, they love us for us!
