I joined this board 2 years ago (as of this month, actually). I pop in from time to time and just lurk. I remember the old board!! (Love this layout & colors, btw.)
I'm almost 37, single, live in Texas. I've been taking meds for PCOS/IR now for about 6 years. Started on Avandia & Met, then added Spiro. I've stopped taking Avandia, mostly due to cost, but once I was off I realized it was giving me auras & migraines as a side effect. Now I just take the met and spiro.
My main symptoms were highly irregular periods (a few months with no period and then an extremely heavy period and spotting for weeks) and after 6 months on medication, I was back to pretty regular periods. (Of course, if I go off the meds they whack out again.)
Now my main issue is hair more than anything - excess hair, especially on the chin/neck area. Amazing how much that stuff can affect your self-esteem! I also am very overweight (100+ lbs) and through the years my symptoms got worse as I gained. I'm hoping that if I can lose this weight I can reduce or eliminate the meds.
So -- this is officially my fourth post (all made tonight)! Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself!
