My name is Becs I'm 35 and have suffered from severe pcos since I was 13 and every year it seems to get worse..We have been trying to get pregnant for 5 years but nothing was working so they decided to do a laproscopy in march 2004 When I came round I was told by specialist that they couldn't do anything as they had found these tumours but due 2 wanting a family they didn't want 2 remove them as may damage ovaries. A year and half down the line July 26 2005 I was referred out of the blue to an oncologist as my CA125 level marker was raised. I was then sent for urgent MRI so they could check ovaries.Specialist said he didn't think there was anything wrong. Went back today expecting to be told that everything was ok..No such luck! MRI found that both ovaries are extremely large 11.5 cms each and I'm gonna have 2 have op 2 remove some of tumours which of course may badly damage the ovaries.
I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about these or had experience of them I am finding things difficult to cope with at moment as it seems as its one thing after another.
I would love to find someone with the same condition

I hope you get answers soon.
Could they harvest your eggs as a precaution? In the event that severe damage occours, and you cannot ovulate even if the hormones are regulated - at least you could do ivf?

They can't harvest any eggs as my ovaries haven't responded to any of the fertility treatments, but I developed a large cyst on left which has never gone.. I was due to begin another cycle of drugs but then all this happened and it's been postponned until this has been resolved.. but that would be great if that was possible for me..They won't discuss IVF until they can get ovaries to respond after op etc
I wish you the very best. In the end, your life is more valuable then 'what if's.' I know they will show extreme caution, and I hope there is no significant damage.

I Have just found out that I have PCOS, and after having a scan to confirm it they found some kind of lump outside my uterus. Now I have to have a load of tests to see what it is exactly, I've wanted kids my whole life and proberbly can't have them either. So I can sort of understand how you feel. Starting to get sick of it, like you said it's always one thing after another. Oh yeah, and i have somthing called cronic fetigue syndrome, I have so many meds i'll start rattling soon!
I've no experience other than severe PCOS, by gynae didn't think we'd conceive without IVF because my ovaries were so bad. I just wanted to wish you the very best and I'm hoping a little miracle will come your way one of these days.

Paddy Congratulations Dara looks adorable!! It's lovely to hear and see that miracles do happen maybe the operation this Friday 14/10 will be the best thing I ever have and the ovaries start to work when the tumours are removed..
I've had PCOS since 1988 or so. I'm 42 now. I don't have children and probably won't have children, but that's O.K. I can always adopt.
I feel for you and your situation though because I know you want to have children.
I went in for my regular pelvic exam this year to find that my uterus felt enlarged to my doctor. I went for a pelvic ultrasound. They found a teratoma the size of 6 cm. They did surgery in June. Fortunately, they only took out the affected ovary along with the teratoma. It was benign. Everything is fine now. I could still have children if I wanted to.
