Hi all! Wanted to know the different experiences with different meds for acne and what people thinks works best. I am going to dr. Friday and want to see if he will prescribe something, seeing as he is a gyno. I have acne the worst I have ever had, used to have great skin. I use St. Ives apricot scrub, and doves facial scrubs, but I think I need rx meds. Is Spiro a good med? Does it cause weight gain? Please help!!!
ive been on sooo many acne meds!! BCP sometimes help a little along with something like minocycline-for a while. ive been on spiro for over a year now and i think it works the best, other meds you seem to get resistant on.
Try Dalacyn T topical solution. You need a perscription for it; it lasts about 2 months (I only apply to my face/etc...@ night and use very little). It really works good for me and even prevents break-outs, which is good since I am getting married in April
I also take Diane 35 / MET / and use Neutrogena soap / and Biotherms face/acne mask.
I've forgotten the name of mine but it will come up in my signiture after this message!!
It's the only thing that works for me and it cleared up my skin within a few weeks and has been pretty much clear ever since, get the odd one around the mouth/chin but VERy occasional!

I have been using Panoxyl 10 soap & cream for 15 +years and it seems to keep my acne under control(most of the time)
With out it my face would be a total mess.
I know in Canada you need a prescription for it but in the U.S. you don't. I also know that that it does come in a stronger dosage and I believe that it requires a prescription in both countries.
Also another cream that I used to use to use that preformed miracles was called Actinac but is no longer available in Canada.
I have tried scrubs, lotions & potions and none of them seem to do the trick. As for birth control pills no matter what the brand they cause me to break out even more.
Good Luck & I hope you find something that works.
