I just started on Met yesterday. I am on 500mg for the first week, then 1000mg the second week, and 1500mg the third week and there I will stay.

For the first week, should it matter when I take it? I took it at night last night, but should I start taking it in the AM?

Also, if I do get side effects, when will those usually start after taking the med? A couple of hours, or hours later???

Take the 500 with your largest meal...that's when you need the most insulin help.

When you do 1000, take 500 in the am one in the pm with food.

Side effects are different for everybody. I used to get them as soon as I took it, other ladies have a bit of a delay. It also depends on what you eat as well, so it varies.

I take 500mg three times a day, usually one after each meal. I found that if I take Met on an empty tummy, I'll be sick.

I have been taking them both at night before I go to bed, I asked my doctor if this was okay and she said it was. Dont know if that will be helpful to you.

When I was working up to 1500mg, I just took it with dinner... then lunch and dinner... and now breakfast lunch and dinner. Met makes me horrifyingly sick if I don't take it with food!
