MD just upped my Metformin dosage to 2000mg. Talk about being sick!!!
I have been taking 500mg for BF and lunch and 1000 mg at night, but I am feeling aweful. My MD actually wanted for me to take 1000 mg twice a day. I couldn't even function if I did it this way. Any suggestions? Those of you on this dosage, what is your dosage schedule.
I just take 500mg 4 times a day. It is alot to remember but I feel like 500mg with something to eat lessens the tummy ache that 1000mg may give. Sometimes I miss a dose during the day so at night before bed I take 1000.
ladies - I dont know how you take 4 tabs a day.. well done.
I am trying to take 2.5 and its very hard. My aim is to take 3 this Tues... I am dreading it. Trying to keep carbs very low and protein high.. I dont feel too bad today

I am also taking 2000mg daily Met. I am taking 1000mg with BF and 1000mg with dinner. Every once in a while I get the sick tummy feeling. I take mine with a big glass of water or milk, I rarely eat BF, but I know I need to cause that would eliminate the sick feeling throughout the day.
I take 1000mg with BF and 1000 with dinner. I was nauseous for the first couple of days but then the nausea subsided. But after being a month or so on 2000mg I am getting the cramps in the stomach symptoms and bloatedness and gaseousness, so I am not sure why they showed up now since I did not have them in the beginning....
when I took metformin years ago, my dr. told me to start with a half a pill for the day and work up to 2000mg over about a 2 month period of time. then it worked out to 1 pill a breakfast, 1 at dinner, 1 at lunch and one at nightime. Now that I have returned to taking metformin, my new dr. told me to start of taking 1000mg. I got awfully sick with even a couple of nose bleeds (was taking 5 dif. meds at the time for vaious reasons) but now my body has gotten used to the drugs with few side effects remaining. The main one is a REAL bad headache most of the day. When I reach the goal of 2000mg of met this time around my dr. told me to take 2 in the morning and two at night. (sorry for the long explanation)
Just started on 3 today... one with breakf, one with lunch, one at bedtime... please let this nausea go awayyyyyyyyy!!!

This is only my 5th or 6th day of taking 2000mg (upped from 1500). I take 1000mg at breakfast and 1000 before bed. I've found that I have to have a solid breakfast, otherwise I don't feel good. When I've had a whole wheat english muffin I've been fine, but today I had cottage cheese and it wasn't solid enough for me, so I'm feeling a little iffy...
Hmmm...I'm not sure if this is totally OK, but I pop all 2000 in the morning. I tried doing 1000 am/1000 pm, but I consistently missed my PM dose.
I do take XR, but it gives me basically no side effects (even with the am megadose)
Good luck in your adjustment!
Tori
