I have been drinking a lot of water before I eat. I eat about half of what I used to.

I eat only 1000 - 1200 kcal a day, remember weight loss is simple maths, consume less energy loss more fat!, After about 9 months on this I have lost 30kgs. I am now at the stage I really have to exercise, but I am still a size 10 (in New Zealand) so that cant be bad!

I do not limit my carbs etc at all, in fact I have one day I week where I spend most of it eating cookies, lollies and cake, I gain about a kg that week then usually loose 1.25 kgs the following week. If I need to jump start things again I do a couple of weekends with only fancy cheesy, good meat and lots of my fav fruits!

Its amandas spin off of the body for life diet lol, and it works because I never stop myself from eating what I want, I have a binge day worked in so I can go out drinking with my friends and have a birthday with cake and eating it too!

If you want check out my profile with before and after pictures :o)

P.s. The reason for having one day off a week, is not only do you trick your mind into thinking you are never limiting yourself, AND (and this is most important) you stop your metabolism from slowing. As long as your regularly overeat once a week you metabolism wont slow, hence why I can limit myself so much during the week and still be loosing a lot of weight :O)

Research, research, research. Learn as much as you can about how your body works and how diet and physical activity can impact PCOS. All of those stickies at the top of forum are a great place to start. From there, put together a plan that you think will work best for you that includes both nutritious food and physical activity. From there, see how your body responds to what you're doing and then adjust your plan according to your results.

Yeah, it's not very sexy, I know. But it works.

Thank you for all the great responses. I have done Weight Watchers before, which worked for a little while. I have also watched my calories for 6 days and then was able to eat what ever I wanted to on the 7th day, but this was all before I knew I had PCOS.
I am a Carb Junkie (especially chips). I really want to lose some weight as I know that will help with everything (I currently have been having my period since 6/16).

Hi there, i just stumbled upon this thread trying to get some tips, but what has worked for me in the past is no carbs, dairy, or sugars. its tough, i mean how many turkey and lettuce rollups can you eat with out wanting to throw it at someone!!! My weakness is pizza which is the worst thing for you. Im 5 5" and over 200lbs. Im trying to get prego with injections and IUI and these meds are not helping me at all. At one point i looked 9 months prego. Im on metformin 2000mg ER per day. i am seeing that im not eating as much, my stomach starts to hurt before i can clear my plate then an hour later im in the potty. Good luck chicas.

Hello! I have been on the Weight Watchers Core plan for just over a week. I've lost 4lbs and my husband has lost 8 so far. It is very manageable and finally a diet that both my husband and I feel like we can stay on. If you are not familiar with the diet, I will explain it -- You have a list of foods - "core foods" - that you can eat as much of as you need till you feel satisfied. Then you have an extra 35 points for the week. When you eat a food that is not on the core list, you will count those points and you can not exceed 35 a week. Anyway... that's the only diet I have felt I can actually stay on and I'm not hungry all the time. I am a member on weightwatchers.com (I do not attend meetings), and I have found some excellent recipes on there!!

There were findings a while back from the National Weight Control Registry who looked at people from all different sorts of backgrounds who had lost weight and kept it off. The basics were:
* 78% eat breakfast every day.
* 75% weigh them self at least once a week.
* 62% watch less than 10 hours of TV per week.
* 90% exercise, on average, about 1 hour per day.
I cant remember where I found this little gem of information, it may have been on SC, but the website was http://www.nwcr.ws/ but i can't get it to work! (Typical!) If i can find another link to that info I'll come back and post it.
