Default beta and hcg

Ok I have been combing the threads so much and I just want to make sure that I am getting it right.

Are Beta numbers from bloodwork and hcg from urine the same(not really the same but do they correlate). For example would someone who had beta done and it was 17 show up pregnant on a test at the same time. Seeing most tests dont show up hcg until 25

The reason that I ask is that I am 12 dpo and I got a negative today but I have so many signs (which I know can be just AF). I saw so many other people on the preg threads saying that their beta were less then 25 on 12dpo. I am grasping for straws to think I am still in the running.

You are still in the running! Many tests don't give BFPs until 13 or 14 DPO. It all depends on your body and how quickly the hcg enters your bloodstream/urine. Beta and hcg are the same thing...the blood tests and urine tests are both looking for hcg beta. It shows positive on a blood test a little sooner than a urine test. Also, although most HPTs publish their sensitivity to be 25 or more, it is possible to have a lower hcg level and still have a + HPT, due to a sensitivity lower than what is published.

I know how you feel. I feel like I am grasping at straws too. I am at 8dpo and I am just dying to know!
