ok i am super irritated right now i took clomid cycle days 3-8 and i usually always O from days 13-15 this cycle im going on to cycle day 17 and still no O. i dont understand, i have all the feeling as usual like im ovulating and know that in the morning i will see that smiley face (clear blue easy opk). I have never had any delayed O on any of my clomid cycles up to date i have always been right on time everytime. Has anyone had delayed O? my doc suggests to test for O up to cycle day 21..Could i be ovulating and the test not picking it up? Did my body finally get used to the clomid and stop working? why do i feel like imovulating but no +opk. Out of all the BFN's that i have recieved i was at least always thankful the i had those +opks now i feel like i have nothing and am going to have to start from scratch

Are you stressed? A few years ago my period was 17 days late because of stress. I have a regular cycle so that was a biggie...stress affects everything but of course it might be something else.

It might be time to switch up your meds. It could also be a fluke cycle. I always responded to Clomid in the past but out of the 5 cycles I only ovulated 4 times. Even someone who doesn't have issues and need fert meds will have the occasional annov cycle. Are you charting your bbt also? I'm wondering if maybe you've missed your surge and that's why you haven't seen a +opk yet.

mae - I just wanted to say I hear ya! Today is CD16 for me and still no OPK+ or egg on my CBEFM. On top of that, I think the line on OPK was darker 2 days ago than yesterday, which was completely blank! I really hope we will get OPK+ this afternoon or tonight! Are you being monitored?

Just an update....just took OPK and still negative! Ugh. Maybe tomorrow...

It is possible to miss an O on the opk's. If your surge is short and you test only once a day, theoretically you could catch just the upswing one day and the downswing the next, with the positive the time inbetween when you didn't test. This is why sometimes you see people suggesting to test twice a day. But since you hadn't had any problems in the past, I don't know if that would be the reason.

I don't think the multiple cycles of clomid would cause you to stop ovulating. The reason why most docs set a limit to the number of clomid cycles is because clomid can start to thin your lining which affects implantation. But I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect ovulation.

Sometimes your body can gear up to O, but for some reason, it doesn't quite get there. Most times it is caused by stress, sickness, etc.

I agree with what mahjab said about the stress.
I was like you and clomid always worked great for me. Well, 2 cycles ago, I was gearing up to O with all the signs (opk's were getting darker), but I had a LOT going on around that time with LOTS of stress. Opk never did get positive and my temps never went up. Cd30 came with no af and no bfp. I knew it was the stress, because that never happens to me. This last cycle, dr increased clomid, and I O'd and got a bfp.
And I've heard many stories of women who started to O, but didn't, then on cd20, 30 or even 40, they do O and get a bfp. Anything is possible!
Don't give up hope. One anovulatory cycle isn't the end and was most likely a fluke. And like you said at least you are ovulating and that's half the battle!

I'm sorry you're feeling stressed. Have you considered switching meds? I think 8 tries on the same dosage of Clomid is kinda strange, is there a reason the doc hasn't increased the dosage or tried a different treatment? IK that many docs will switch treatments after 3-4 failed attempts. Don't get me worng, there are people out there that stay on Clomid longer than others, but generally I think most docs will at least increase the dose after just a few rounds. Good luck to you!

Are you taking your BBT too? You may have missed your surge on the test if it happened at a different time of day so you may have already O'd. As another poster pointed out though stress can delay your O too.

I just wanted to share that sometimes when I took clomid I ovulated on time and sometimes it wasn't till around day CD22. Last July I went in to my re because I was doing clomid/menopur cycles. The scan showed I had a follie and I needed to come back a few days later to see if I o'ed or was about to. When I went back the re saw no trace of a follie and told me that maybe it was time for a break. Needless to say that af never came and I even ended up getting prego 2 wks after that. I just wanted to say that don't give up hope yet because you never know what your body may do.

thank you so much for all ur feedbac ladies i appreciate it so much. i dont think im am any more stressed then usual but who knows its a possibility.

jessie- i asked my RE as well why she has never up'd my clomid since i have had no success she said that i respond to the clomid great so there is no reason to up the dose. that by uping the dose it will not make my chances of ttc any better it will just cause me to have even more cysts then i already have.
i was monitored on my 1st clomid cycle but never since. they said they only do it once to make sure u are responding to the clomid well and to decide that the dose you are on is correct. when i was monitored the 1st time on 100mg i had 5 follies all 20-26 so they said i was responding great and the dose i was on was perfect i have never been monitored since b/c i always get my +opk's right on time. i asked my RE this last time if i could get this cycle monitored b/c i was curious how many follies i was still producing. she said she would b more then happy to u/s me when i got my +opk to see the follies but i never got that opportunity obviouslly yet.
i also asked her what was next if this cycle did not work she said that she still wanted to keep me on clomid another round but add the trigger and continue with an IUI. my lining is getting a lil thin i have been drinking 100% pomegranite juice cause i read somewhere and i think someone suggested it on her as well and it can increse ur lining and has gret folic acid.
i just feel really discouraged right now like i said i was always upset of course when i got those BFN's but i was always super thankful to get those +opks and i feel now that i have nothing and that i am at square one again

hey sabrina thank you i appreciate it.. i just dont understand what happened i was doing so good w/ ovulatating and then just come to a complete stop. i talked to kaiser today and they told me that u should O by the 16th day so i can consider this one a bust since im going onto the 18th day w/o O

she wanted to sign me up for a injectables class but i said i wanted to wait to see if my AF comes on its own which im sure it wont then i'll call to get provera, and then i will start back in then.

Mae, FWIW, my first time on Clomid I think I O'd CD 16 at the latest. But this time on Clomid, my smiley face did not appear until CD 18 so I probably didn't O until CD 19. I almost ran out of OPK sticks. Those OPKs are friggin' expensive but I'd keep testing if you can - hope that helps. - E

thanks ciltius- some ladies convinced me to continue testing.. so im going to hold onto hope that it might just be a late one. im going to go get more opk's in just a sec.. and yes they are super exspensive!! we should have a PCOS member card and get discounts on opk's and hpt's for life lol..

trina- thanks so much for ur story that def makes me keep my head up.

i appreciate all u ladies for ur advice and feedback. earlier today i just convinced myseld that i needed to give up on this cycle and let it go.. now my mind is convinced i might still have run in this cycle.
