I was wondering if anybody has been diagnosed or tested for cancer since they were diagnosed with PCOS? Is it a common thing to be tested right away for Endomitreal Cancer?
I haven't heard of it as an automatic test. If you have at least 8 periods a year, I've heard that you don't have an increased risk of cancer. I believe I've read that is the main cancer concern with PCOS.
Totally makes me nervous too... it's been 3 months since AF for me. I'll have to remember to ask when I find a new Dr. (just moved). Thanks for bringing it up!
i have always read it is recommended women with PCOS who experienced symptoms of amenorrhoea or oligomenorrhoea shed their endometrium at least every 3 months.
An ultrasound scan is recommended every 6-12 months to measure endometrium thickness and morphology.
this is a good article to read about PCOS and the increased risk of cancer:
I have gone 10 months before. My RE wants to do a biopsy of my uterus to test for luteal phase defect, but also to make sure I don't have cancer. My mother had endometrial cancer and had a hysterectomy at 39 years old.

Those birth control pills make it so you don't build up a uterus lining.
People with PCOS who don't get their periods, keep growing a uterus lining. And after a year of not getting a period--you cannot even imagine how much tissue is there. The linings that don't get shed can turn into cancer.

I was just dx and placed on metformin right away, but I usually have a period, missing maybe 1 or 2 a year...I will definately ask when I go to the dx again!
