Hey out there ladies. I am needing some further informaton. Those of us that are very big. Big enough to have a substantial over-hang on our bellies is the group I am needing information from. On a previous post y'all may have read about a phantom pain I was having on my left side and some replies came about others of us that have "over-hang pain". That is the best term I can find to describe it. Last night I did my bi-weekly shopping trip to Wal-Mart. So I was on my feet a lot! By the time I was done I was hurting so bad!! It feels like my belly has ripped something away in there. This only happens when I have been on my feet a long time. So I usually have this every two weeks. But today I have a new pain. It is an occasional throb. Sharper than the last one on the left side (but not excrusiating or anything) and it seems to be closer to the surface. If I feel under my belly, I can feel a difference on the right side. It does not feel like there is as much structure there, like there is a bit of a crater of sorts. Top these phantom pains off with my hypochondria, intense fear of being hurt or sick, and all of the stress I am under right now, oh yeah, did I mention I am pms-ing? I am having quite the freak out here. Do any of you have this? Can you describe your pains to me? Have any of you asked a Dr. about this? I cannot afford a good gyn until the Spring. I realy don't think this pain is bad enough to warrent a trip to the ER, I think if something was coming loose, bursting, ruptureing or twisting, the pain would be intense! I am just hoping someone out there can offer me some re-assureance. Thanks in advance

I'm sorry that your going through this...arrg the ever hated overhang. I've named mine...Frank. I have somthing similar on my right side on the upper quadrent, I went to the doc and he told me it was a muscle pull. However, if I were you I'd see the doc it could be a myriad of things, an ovary, a cyst, a hernia, etopic pregancy. I mean if you are in pain I'd go to the ER during the day, maybe they can give you an ultra-sound to see whats going on in there. I mean why be in pain!?! You can also go to www.webmd.com, they have a symptom checker that I like to use when I feel like I've contracted Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever or something like that (I too am a hypocondriac..lol)...I hope you feel better tho!! Please, Please keep us posted!

thanks for the addy for webmd, one thing I know for certain it cannot be is the etopic preganancy and I have not done anything that could cause it for the last three years. So, one down..... It is not a sharp pain at all and in fact the last couple of throbs have been decreasing in pain. I had not thought of a muscle pull. It doesn't hurt all the time.... just off and on, a slight twinge every couple of minutes to 10 to 15 minutes. Just a new pain... Thanks !

Have you ever thought of a supportive undergarment to support your "overhang"? They sell stuff for pregnant women and post-partum women to help support their bellies, why not for us with the overhang problem (this just hit me as I was reading your post...I haven't had the opportunity to try it). I know that there's support belts (very wide belts that close with velcro) that wrap around the belly area and are supposed to support those delicate bellies...I'm just not sure of where we could find 'em for us fluffy cysters...
Good luck with this and let us know what you find out...OK? I'm worried that it may be something more than just the overhang...
Big hugs!

Thanks ladies, later on in the day after I posted the question here, the pains just went away. I did have only one more later on in the evening, and that was after I had been on my feet washing dishes and cracking the whip over my teenage kids cleaning the kitchen *grin*! So I am thinking that it must be the overhang. But that brings up the problem of me being on my feet too much. I bet that a doctor would want to correct it surgically, but I also bet that if I where to keep on loosing weight like I am that the problem might eventually be eliminated. I will look online for a belly support, that is a great idea. Actually, I have a back support that is very wide and velcro, so I will see how that works. Hmmmm maybee it will do. Great idea!!! If I find anyting out I will let y'all know. Thanks for your concern.
God's blessings!

I have to admit I have often wondered where I could find something to support maybe even tuck in my belly. I don't so much as get a pain from the hanging of it as a rash from the sweating at the top of my panties I have very sensitive skin and almost everthing causes a rash on me.

gosh, i hate my over hang belly. Its so nasty. I have a pain like that on my right side. Sometimes it feels like its pulling away. I dont have insurance so I cant go to the doctor. If i move a certain way it can literally drop me to my knees. Sorry that I don't have advice for ya. I just assume mine is a cyst or something but I have wondered it if it was my belly over hang.
hugs

This probably isn't it, but I'm gonna throw it out there anyway, because you may have this problem too.
Go to a full length mirror and pull up your belly and look. Is there a rash under there? If you don't have a mirror that will let you see, is there a nasty smell?
If so, it's a fungal infection and the solution to this is very simple.
Go to the store and buy one of those creams that are made for athlete's foot. Apply it to the rash. Do this about twice a day. Soon . . . very soon . . . the rash will be GONE!
This problem can cause extreme discomfort of the skin, like it is torn or something. I bought a tube of this stuff and carry it in my purse. It has lasted me years.

I had been having several of the same symptoms though I am not sure it is from the same thing. After a day of being on my feet for a long time I would have the worst pain in my hips/butt region. After laying in bed I would wake up the next morning feeling fine. Then after awhile I would go to sleep with pain in my hips and wake up with an aching side. The dr said that the pain in my hips/butt is my sciatic nerve and we are still not sure of the pain in my side. It would only occur in the morning when I woke up. Sometimes it was so bad I would get up around 2 or 3 in the morning to take meds. The dr gave me muscle relaxers and an anti-inflamatory but it was not helping other than allowing me to sleep through the night. I still woke up in pain when the alarm went off.
I finally got to the point that I couldn't stand the pain I was vacation for a week and the pain seemed worse than it had been in a long time and I told my boyfriend that I was going to make them do another ultrasound and blood work because something wasn't right. I went away for the weekend with my friend to a dog show and we stayed in a hotel room. I planned to go to the dr the following Mon. The next morning (Sat) I woke in no pain and haven't since then. I am not sure what the heck it was but it went on for about 3 or 4 months and then went away as mysteriously as it had come.
I am about 85 lbs overweight and the dr keeps telling me that weight has a big factor in the pains we experience. Carrying that extra weight around puts a big strain on lots of muscles and nerves. I know that if I were to lose some weight things would improve. I just cannot motivate myself enough to get out there and do it. I just wish it were easier. Why do all the cards have to be against us?!
