YAY!
I'm usually not to upset with it, but lately I've been really moody about it, and kind of upset a lot.
i completely understand! i think we all have shifts in mood about PCOS regardless of how long ago we've been diagnosed or how far we've come in our respective courses of treatment--even people who have their PCOS relatively under control go through it too!

my question that i have is it normal for someone with pcos to feel like they are on there period but they are not.. i have not had one for 9 months now and for the past 3 months i have been getting painfull period pains but no period, i have been getting other symptoms around this time awell such as becoming very spotty and becoming moody
Hi Haley-Jade I don't know if it's normal to get period type cramps and then NOT get a period, but what I do know is that with pcos we sometimes grow lots of cysts. These cysts can feel like ovary or period cramps sometimes, at least when my cysts get larger. One thing you might want to look into though is heading to a dr. Have you done that yet.......how old are you? I got my period at 14 and it was here and there for about 5 years. At 19 the dr. finally said ok this isn't healthy. I'd say if it's past 2 years since you first got your period and you rarely get it to go to the dr. It's good to have a monthly period to get everything out of there.....I was put on the pill for this reason. My catholic boyfriend's mother thought I was going to hell, but I also could have gotten uterine cancer from NEVer getting a period either (stats are low on that, but that's why it's not healthy/my grandmother also had uterine cancer so that was another reason). Anyway.......the spotting could be your period trying to come...I'm not sure...Dr is your best bet and if you haven't gone to one yet try to find one that is an obgyn not a general practice dr. the obgyn's know a great deal more about pcos than the regular family practice drs. Does this help? I hope so...if not what else do you have questions about?

thank you for your message. i am 19, i started my periods when i was about 13 they were very heavy each month i had to miss school some days because of them, then as i got older they began to dissapper for months and when i was on they would last for months, when i went to the doctor i had blood tests for insulin and testerone and then i went for a scan which reveled i had pcos and i havent been to the doctors about it scince then.
but after reading your comment i am going to see a health care provider and get a diebetic test done as i have been worrying about what i should be eating as i am over weight and find it hard to shift the weight, do you have any tips for weight loss?
i didnt realise you could get cancer from having no periods, i am interested in taking the pill but i find it hard to swallow any tpye of pills are there any alteritives in a liquid form
thank you for taking time to relpy to my last message.
Hayley
HI there Just want to say again. I don't want to scare you....it's just generally not healthy to not have a period regularly. It might be good to just be on the pill or have your doc give you provera every once in awhile to you get a period. Provera is progesterone, which when you take it for 10 days and then stop you get a period.
Anyway! Glad to help with information. What I've found work for a diet with pcos is carbs are the enemy! They are so darn good, but they really keep our hormones out of wack. At first when I started changing my diet I always ate protein with carbs. Even if it was an apple I'd eat peanut butter with it. Protein is supposed to help aid in the proper digestion of the carbs and not cause as much of a sugar rush as just a plain carb would. When carbs break down they turn into glucose/sugar. When our sugar spikes in our bodies it throws our hormones off.
Recently (jan.) I started eating no wheat and dairy. Very extreme and it took a lot to figure it out and find alternative foods to work, but I lost 17lbs...in about 3 months. It literally fell off. One book that helped me tremendously is The PCOS Infertility Diet book...google if you'd like, BUT it's very extreme and I don't follow it completely.
If you go on amazon.com and look up pcos diet books there are a few that aren't that expensive that could help you as well. Don't feel like you have to do all of this. It's just information to think about and if it is interesting to you to research further.
It's amazing, but our bodies really do respond a great deal to what we put in them. Western (aka/american) is so processed and made in a way that our bodies are not made to be taken in. Whole foods, i know boring, as much as possible is one way to help.
As far as the "pill" there are actually different forms. Some are patches, some you actually place inside of you......I think? Never been on that one, but have you ever seen an actual birth contorl pill. The ones I have I don't even use water they are so small, BUT you could have a really sensitive gag reflex and that not work for you. Ask your dr....write out a list of questions when you go and don't leave until they answer them all
Feel free to post anymore questions!

thanks for your information
i will try lowering the amount of carbs i eat and see if it makes a difference.
i have had deibetic test today and it came back adverage which is good so i dont need to worry about that.
i have been looking at some books on the internet which seems interesting i will look again on amazon to see how much they cost i looked at the The Natural Diet Solution for PCOS and Infertility, which i might consider buying

Even if you aren't trying to get pregnant or nowhere near that stage in your life it still helps with symptoms. I'll be thinking about you as you research and make changes in your life. We just have to learn how to best live with this........You'll do great!

by the way.....I DO NOT want to push you the message that you should do this or that. My last post sounds like I'm pushing that book. Do what's right for you, but arm yourself with as much information that you can get. Good luck and keep asking!
