I thought we could post any shops that stock plus sizes and support businesses which take US into account!!
EXPENSIVE STUFF, BUT USUALLY WORTH IT
- JAG- surprisingly stock up to a 16.. and not a unrealistic 16 either! VERY Comfortable.. unfortunately expensive, but probably good if you want something special to celebrate!
- Sussan- I think they stock upto an 18..but maybe 16... Very comfortable office sort of clothes. Again, can be a bit expensive..
_Esprit and Country Road and Portmans, are also expensive but stock up to 16 now.
LESS EXPENSIVE
-Target- don't rule this baby out..they have some great stuff that goes up to really reasonable sizes! comfortable, inexpensive usually and quite cute usually
- Jeans West- you can usually score stuff up to a 16...
-Kmart- Again...don't rule out.. i don't find them as creative as target, but that's just me
DESIGNERS
- Basque
- Urbane
(off the top of my head, can be a touch expensive, but are quite roomy)
I would love to hear other ideas, esp. places that stock about a size 16! At least they are making beyond a size 14...that's a start.
I live in the Blue Mountains so the only 'chain' store here that other people are likely to have is Kmart.
I find Kmart to be quite good with bigger sizes in tops, jumpers, shirts etc but I'm not so keen on their range of jeans and trousers. Every time I find a pair that fits my thighs and butt, the waist will be two sizes too big! :/
But they are good for tops!
Actually, has anyone else looked at the new Symantha Perkins range? It's in Kmart here, no idea if other stores stock it as well. The tops in that range are gorgeous and very flattering. From memory I think they went up to at least a size 20. I'd recommend keeping an eye for that range, classy and good sizes!

There's also the 'Sara' brand of the Ezibuy catalogue (also online I think). It's a NZ based business and I love their clothes. Very reasonably priced too.
If anyone is looking for plus sized bras, lingerie and swimwear, I can highly recommend Big Girls Don't Cry (Anymore), who have a mail order website www.brastogo.com.au
If you're in Brisbane, they also have a shop at 28 Baxter Street, Fortitude Valley.
I've been there and they are the NICEST ladies, and if you buy a bra mail order they will exchange it if it isn't the right size. They're also very good with helping you get the right fit, even if it is via mail order!
I thought i would mention- not to rule out second hand clothing shops! I found some great stuff made by some pretty cool designers for virtually nothing. I'm a 16, but the sizes there really do range! You would be able to find stuff up to a 26 easily depending on which shops you go to. It's simply a matter of exploring...happy hunting
I also find eBay very good. There are a lot of people selling pre-loved clothes, and also people selling new clothes at great prices. Plus there are a lot of small time designers who have set up shops on there, so you can pick up some things that are not in the stores, or are really unusual - and right up to REALLY big sizes. I've got it set up to send me hit lists of anything that is in my size.
Thought I'd chime in on this one. I really like the Jacqui E outlet store at Stones Corner. The prices are often real bargains and I find their sizes are more generous than other stores. Generally they go up to an 18, but it is a generous 18. As an example of the discounts, I have bought suits there for $80 in total (fully lined jacket and pants) which would have been more than $300 in their regular stores. I often pick up great $10/15 shirts and skirts as well. I would guess that 3/4 of my wardrobe comes from there!! Plus, one of the ladies in the store are full-figured and are really helpful if you say you are looking for something that covers/flatters chubby arms/thighs/stomach - whatever. Always helpful.
There are quite a few other discounts stores there as well - Rockmans is there and I think they stock some Be Me. The Table Eight discount store sometimes has larger sizes as well. But generally, I end up with shopping bags from Jacqui E and that's about it.
Cheers,
Miranda

Anyone know of any stores which go up to a size 28? My mum's a 28 and hoping to shop for clothes when she comes to visit from India... but we've never been able to find anything above a 26. She says she can get stuff in her size in the UK - surely there must be somewhere over here which can cater for her?
