A sigh of relief or not I'm not sure yet.
I found this sight in November after my last pap exam. Maybe it is a good thing I went to
the Women's Clinic where I live. After reviewing my medical and family history, the nurse doing the exam suggested I look up PCOS and then get back in touch with her to follow up on what needed to be done for a diagnosis.
Wow! What an eye opener!

The things I learned from online research alone helped prepare me for the whole process I'm going through now. I'm sure I've had PCOS for several, several years and it's been overlooked by other GYN's and drs. I mean early onset of period, irregular periods when not on the pill, steady weight with sudden gains but no real losses, and chin hair!
January I did the Insulin Resistant blood work and was refered to an endocrinologist. He then confirmed I was PCOS/IR.
He's starting things slowly with some thyroid meds and another round of tests to confirm hormone levels and some other stuff. Yeah, I'm a little overwhelmed with the list of things.
I had a dietician appointment this morning to review my eating habits and start a "natural" form of lowering glucose levels. All in conjuntion with meds I'm sure once the endocrinologist gets the rest of the testing done.
Anyway I just needed to get things out and vocalize to some people who would understand. Right now my parents are confused, my sister is annoyed (she has some of the indicators too and I'm concerned she is PCOS as well

), my gf's consider this topic to be TMI, and my bf just doesn't want to talk about it even though he's all for me finding out what's wrong/losing weight.
I hope to learn more and turn things around.
Many Blessings to all of you.
