Angry big tummy!!!

im not sure where this thread is suppose to go but anyway i have this really huge tummy which i hate!! my tummy looks like im pregnant!!
i think im a medium-thin cyster. my dr didnt think i had pcos coz of my weight but after havins a tv scan, i had about 7 cysts on one side and 10 on the other! the dr said it was mild but i still have this huge stomach!! esp after i eat a big meal.
even if i lose weight i cant lose weight there.
anyone has this problem before?
and anyone has success stories in losing weight in your abdomen?? sit ups etc?

im so sick of my tummy n i always have to hide it

It amazes me there are still docs who think you have to be overweight to have PCOS! Only half of all cysters have weight problems. I have a big belly and I hate it. I have lost weight there over the years, but it is still my worst problem regarding weight loss.

The day I started on a low GI diet was the day the kilos started coming off my stomach. Every now and then if I have a few bad eating days, the first place I notice the weight come back on is on the stomach.

Are you following any sort of 'recognised' eating plan at all?

http://www.glycemicindex.com/
They have a great database where you can enter the food and check its GI.
A low GI value is 55 or less, a medium GI value is 56-69, a high GI is 70 or more.

I have been on a modified lower-carb diet since October 2002. I was 230 pounds then and my lowest since then has been about 164. My goal is 155.

Here is my diet blog: http://daretobethin.blogspot.com/

GI is Glycemic index which indexes foods according to how they affect the blood sugar.

Here is some info on that: http://www.glycemicindex.com/

I know exactly how you feel. Im thin everywhere except for my lower tummy. I have long skinny legs and arms like spaghetti and this damn pot belly. I feel disproportional! I lost a lot of weight last year by following a low GI diet and tons of excercise. It got to the point where the weight on my tummy was was nearly gone but had replaced itself with loose skin! Eek it was worse! I think I lost the weight too quickly. I put on a few kilos because I preffered a round tummy over saggy skin. I have found that pilates is helping because it focuses on the pelvic floor and the abdominal muscles. My doctor keeps telling me the tummy its part of PCOS but that doesnt really make me feel any better about it. I also have high cholesterol which doesnt help (another lovely by-product of PCOS - YIPPEE geez this thing sucks!)

Anyway I just wanted to let you know youre not alone

Hugs,

Kel

Yeah, I've got a gross big belly too. If I could just slice it off then I'd be all in proportion. It's where I carry about 80% of my excess weight, the lower belly is the worst. Sit ups helped firm the top half, but no amount of ab exercises would reduce the bottom bit. I'm currently following the IR diet, and I've lost about 2lbs so far, I only started last sunday, but, already BF says he can see a difference. Probably just water weight tho.

Where did you all get your foods that are GI low?
I have checked out a couple of links provided in teh thread but did your Drs suggest or did you buy a book?

Pilates is amazing! Weight training has never appealed so pilates was a much agreeable alternative!

I've just finished a nutrition degree so I guess thats where all my knowledge came from. With or without PCOS, its a great sensible way of eating. There are alot of books out there, plenty related to PCOS and low GI foods specifically.
