I had a chemistry panel done the other week for our adoption paper work and when my came back it shows my Bilirubin high at 3.6. I've been using Met for a few years now. My Ob/GYN who put me on the Met test my liver every year. She always says that it's fine.
I called the OB/GYN and they said to go off of the met.
Should I worry about this?
I also called my family doctor to see what they say about it.
I got the lab results on Friday and didn't look at the until after the offices closed. So Instead of taking my 2 pills I went down to 1 pill for two days and last night I didn't take any.
I just don't need one more thing to worry about right now with the adoption right here.
I'm freaking!!

My family doctor also told me to go off of the Met. And to retest Bilirubin in one month.
I also had asked because just yesterday I started taking a herbal med for my anxiety that makes sertonen (SP?) in your brain and your liver.
So the nurse said that since it does something with the liver and I need to have it retested that she would not recommend using it. I told them that she would need to talk to the doctor then, because I need something for my anxiety right now. So I asked about xanax, because I took it before, it worked but made me sleepy. So she said she would call me back.

I would check out the thread at the top of the metformin page called "START HERE"..there is a ton of info on elevated enzymes that might apply.
I wouldn't switch your dose or anything without talking to the Dr that perscribed it, but that's just me. Often elevated enymes have other causes besides the met. Most Doctors re-test again in a month if anything is abnormal and go from there.
BEST WISHES for your adoption!!
