Default Bipolar and lack of period, Dr in morning, please help!!

Hi Guys,

I am due to see my G.P. in the morning and have just been diagnosed as bipolar by my psychiatrist. They have me on Quetiapine, which has side effects of inducing metabloic syndrome and PCOS. My periods had been regular since sept 08 following ovarian drilling, but since i started the tablets no period. I wondered if anyone was in the same position, i am seeing the G.P. to discuss how we manage my lack of periods!
I hate it when im overdue as i have PMT symptoms until AF shows up, does anyone else get this too?

I think im gonna try metformin again, i stopped it as i thought it caused mood swings, but now know that they could have been the bipolar.
I am a little confused about where both the illnesses start and finish!

Thanks in advance
Tracy xx

It is difficult to tell where one starts and one finishes. The symptoms of mood swings can be mistaken for Bipolar if they are severe. Is your psychatrist aware of your diagnosis of PCOS?

Thanks for replying Rachel, yes my pdoc is aware. I had a similar episode in 2005 which they decided was pcos not mania. Bu tthis time I have definately had a hypomanic episode so am on mood stabilisers.

G.P> visit was ok, he has put me on the mini pill in an attempt to regulate things. I have been TTC for 7 years, but seen as it didnt happen, i have decided to accept the pill for the sake of my sanity.

Thanks
Tracy

Dear Tracy,

I hope the mini pill will work for you. My prayers go out to you and I hope that you will feel better soon.
