Yaz helps a lot of people with PCOS. It has a drug in it (I believe it is a type of diuretic) that acts as an anti-androgen, so really seems to help reduce hair growth and acne. I can't say whether or not it worked for me b/c I am allergic to that diuretic and it made me break out in hives, but a lot of people swear by it! Otherwise, make sure you're on a monophasic pill (meaning one that has the same amount of hormones in each pill), not the tri-phasics (like Ortho tri-cyclin).

I was on Yazmin for 6 months. It did not help my PCOS symptoms at all and it caused my blood pressure to get pretty high. I had to stop taking it due to the blood pressure issues. I was disappointed because i was hoping it would help with hair growth.

I swear by Yaz. I had horrible mood swings and so my doctor diagnosed me with PMDD and put me on Yaz and I have been SO much better! I'll never switch unless I absolutely have to. GL!

I don't have hair growth issues either, but was prone to acne (somehow that is mostly gone now, even off the pill - woo hoo!), and I just took Ortho Novum, which worked great. It's a pretty standard monophasic pill. I definitely had light cycles while on ON, with very little cramping. With BCPs, you pretty much just have to try one and if it doesn't do what you need, tell your dr and switch to something else. Some things work for some and not for others. The main thing with PCOS is just being on a monophasic.
