Default Birth control pill issues. Any advice?

Hi. I've never been to this board. I just found it today. lol. and I am having some issues.

I'm Christy. I'm 22 and I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 16. I have been on the birth control pill since then, although the type has been switched from time to time. Never been on another other drugs, such as Clomid, etc. I missed a few pills..(but was using condoms, but one broke), and I end up with my son Matthew, who is 13 months.

For most of the time I've been on BCP, my periods were regular. But I had my appendix taken out this summer, and ever since then, my periods have been strange, and not coming when they should (when I'm taking the inactive pills). They either come late, or early...or whatever...I switched from ortho tri cyclan lo to a monophasic pill a month after my surgery to see if that would help, and it still hasn't. I always end up freaking out about whether i'm pregnant or worried about PCOS issues.

Right now, I'm a week and 1 day late on my period..and I tested last Wednesday (the day I was supposed to get my period) and it was negative. But still no period. I'm getting so frustrated, because I am on the pill to REGULATE my cycle..not be confused and have no idea when it's is coming. I'm going to test again this weekend, just to see, but I really don't think I'm pregnant (although it's a possibility)

Any advice? Should i switch pills? I have no insurance until I get on my husbands, so there's nothing I can do pretty much, but I'm still frustrated and worried. I wish I could just have a normal cycle. ugh.
Sorry this is so long. thanks for reading

I don't think having your appendix out should have affected your period that much, at least not for that long. If you are not pregnant, I would consider switching pills. Have you been taking the same pill since your surgery? Since you don't have insurance and if you don't want to go to a dr., I would call your pharmacist. Pharmicists will talk to you, without charging you. However, he/she might refer you to a dr. Is there a county health clinic you could go to? I know most county health clinics are able to provide you with a bcp, I am not sure if they can prescribe them though. It might be something to look into.

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.
