Oooh! I would like to know this too!

I'm using proactiv and as great as it's been for getting rid of those zits, my pores are still HUGE and I have some blackheads.

I would love to shrink these pores and blackheads!

Use a gentle cleanser... I use Cetaphil... (about $10 at longs)... Then I use dermalogica (daily microfoliant)... (about $40 at the beauty supply store... It's powder in a bottle... you mix it in the palm of your hand.... and it's a wonderfull little scrub!!!!!

I also have a little tool... by tweezerman (about $15)... it's specifically for REMOVING blackhead... After I've done my little scrub... the you take the tool... press the loop over the blackhead GENTLY (you can see the blackhead through the loop)... you GENTLY slide the loop down a bit... the black head will pop out! It can hurt sometimes... so go lightly... don't make yourself bleed!

If it doesn't... then it's NOT quite ready... after a few days with the daily microfoliant... it will!

Good luck!

I swear by the Biore pore strips.
If you get the combination pack, you can cut up the 'face' strips to fit any area (betweeen the eyebrows, cheeks, etc.)

Works best for the t-zone area because if you move onto the cheeks, you'll be pulling out any peach fuzz/hair at the same time.

The strips work best after a shower or steaming, on a clean, wet face (don't use any oily/creamy cleanser just before using them.)

I then use a toner afterward. What comes out of my pores is pretty darn scary.

I then use an extractor for any stragglers. Don't try to extract blackheads without steaming/showering first if they're resistant! Soften them up first.
HTH!

Check the acne forum. Someone there had suggested an asprin mask. (I remember someone saying that they put it on their son's face, and it totally cleared up his blackheads)

Try doing a search. There were instructions on how to make and use it. Good luck.

The first few times I used an extractor it worked on my blackheads but now it doesn't seem to (perhaps I either need a new one, or to get it sharpened). I think every single pore in my t-zone is filled with a blackhead. Going to see an anesthician (I'm totally spelling it wrong) is worth it because most likely they will be better at extracting the impurities.

My dermatologist told me to use a face wash that has glycolic acid in it and then to apply Retin-A at night. I had to stop using the glycolic acid face wash because it was making me break out in tiny tiny rash-like pimples. I switched back to my Cetaphil face wash and continued using the Retin-A but after 6 months of use I wasn't noticing any difference. Every now and then I'll wrap some toilet paper around my fingers and gently squeeze the blackheads...but I have hundreds of them, and lots of stubborn ones that won't get out!!

I think my next mission is to try the Glycolic peels or microdermabrasion. Of course though, this will be after I've gotten my laser hair removal. Ugh...

I love biore strips too! Comedone extractors wouldn't do anything for me but hurt my skin--maybe mine are really stubborn or I don't know how to use it. I had used them a long time ago,a nd they didn't work, but I used them again recently and they got rid of some really stubborn blackheads! I also cut the face strips on small areas, like around the crevices of my nose, chin, and around the sides of my nose on my cheeks, and the nose ones are good for the whole nose. But, I can't use these much, since I use retin-a, and its a no no to use anything the peels off, or wax, but I used it anyway now and then. THe key is, to have a clean face, to have th estrip ready somewhere dry, wet your face an increadible amount, by filling your hands up with water and actually dipping your face in it til its soaked, then drying your hands off quickly with a towel as to not ruin th estrip, peel it off, put it on, and hold it down and smooth it down onto the skin for a few seconds, and then wait at least 15 minutes so its really hard. And actually, I think pulling them off quickly without looking, and from just one side, does a better job then the instructions, which is to do it carefully, slowly, and from both sides. Go figure.

Default Blackheads!!

Hi ladies, I too used to have blackheads (small, hard to extract type) ALL over my nose and on my chin. For the past 2 months I have been using Clean and Clear, they make an astringent that is specially formulated to remove blackheads!! And it has worked!! It also helps make pores "appear"smaller due to the fact that it is ridding them of all that muck. It's fairly inexpensive. Hope this helps.

Good luck!!
