Question blautenschleag4

Hi my name is Brenda and I found out in 2003 after a miscarriage that I had PCOS. I have been in denial. Because I knew that if I got pregnant once before why not again. But have had problems. Last spring found out that I also had diabetes and was put on metformin I had no idea that it was used to treat PCOS. How long does it take to conceive being on the metformin and should I take any precautions before trying to concieve. I am newbie so any information will be very helpful. Dont mean to sound ignorant about this issue but have not been given much information RE: PCOS.

Hi Brenda an welcome to SC!!
Conceiving on met is different for all cysters. For some it's quick for others a little slower. Take a look at the met forum and also the TTC forum!!!

Default Make sure you're taking folic acid

I read somewhere a long time ago that met makes you not absorb folic acid as well so you should take 1 g a day. That's what most prenatal vitamins have. I agree on length of time. FOr some women met doesn't help them conceive at all. For me, I was pregant the first month we tried.
