I have had it! I am fairly light in skin tone, and yet, my hoo hoo and crack are really dark! As in, almost black! What can I do? The doctor just told me to exercise and diet more (as if I'm not already). I'm on metformin, and I'm already on Synthroid for syndrome x. My doc did bloodwork and said nothing had changed, but won't up the dose of anything.
Is there anything I can do to bleach that area, or to lighten it in some way? It's SO embarrassing!
When I get paid on the first, I'm getting some Magnesium, B5, and Cinnamon pills, is there anything else that might help?
HELP PLEASE!

My daily meds:
2000mg Metformin, 150 mcg Synthroid
1000 mg Fish Oils, Nature Made Multi for Her (with Iron and Calcium), Calcet triple calcium with vit d, 250 mg Magnesium, Bayer Aspirin, 500 mcg sublingual B-12
Don't go anywhere near your nether regions with bleach!!! That is an order, lol!
If it bothers you this much, you could have a brazilian wax done at a reputable salon.
Congrats on the weightloss so far! That is amazing, and something tells me you'd have much more hair to deal with had you not been doing so well with d&e. Remember, diet and exercise are forms of treatment for pcos, just like metformin.

Thank you for the response and the compliment.
The problem isn't really hair. I shave that. The problem is the skin itself! It's very dark and thick and makes me really self-aware and embarrassed. I know it's normal to be slightly darker there because of blood flow, but this is EXTREME! I was going to try facial "lightening" cream on it, but I'm kind of scared. Any ideas?

You mentioned a doctor. Is this your family physician or your ob/gyn? I would seek the advice of a dermatologist. I am pretty sure they have ways of managing darker areas.

Ohhhhhhhhh! Sorry I just assumed hair!
Hmm, I second being seen by a dermatologist. You should call around and find one that knows about PCOS.

Thanks ladies!
Yes, I have a doctor, but I'm looking for an internalist or derm in my area. The family doctor just kind of got this blank look when I asked her/showed her, and it pretty much sounded like she had no idea what I was talking about.
*sigh* I was just hoping that there was a generic, OTC way of handling it before I made an expensive appt.

All I can think of is doing a google search for skin bleach. I'm not sure they sell it in stores, but if it were me, I would rather buy it online than in a store anyway to save on embaressment another trick you can do, is drink light colored soda. I hear darker soda, such as colas and what not, can have something to do with the color "in that area". So Sprites and 7ups are what you should drink instead if you drink soda. Or just drink lots of water I hope that helps and/or you find something that does.
a girlfriend of mine had the same problem... she said she got the cream for it on ebay about a year ago. She hasn't tried it yet though because she got pregnant shortly after buying it.
you can do a search on ebay for anal bleaching or skin bleaching cream, it's around 20 dollars. Also if you search google for anal bleaching there is quite a bit that comes up.
Sorry i couldn't give you more detailed info, i don't know much about skin bleaching...

I'm a little disgusted that I know this, but there is such a thing as anal bleaching. I certainly wouldn't recommend doing it yourself, if this is what your heart is set on doing. Seek out a pro on such issues. Call a spa and ask them. I'm sure they will know what you are talking about.
I know we all have our own insecurities, but my advice to you is that unless you take graphic nude photos or star in porn, please don't worry about your dark crevices. Obviously, you are absolutely entitled to do whatever you please, but women with our condition have so many other things to be insecure about. I recommend choosing one of those other things to worry about instead.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
while I am going to continue with the meds, diet, and exercise, I found a couple of pieces of info online that say that lotions with vitamin c and vitamin a help. I found a couple of really inexpensive lotions with these ingredients at GNC (all organic, too), and I am going to buy them and experiment when I get paid. I'm going to take weekly pics to be able to tell if they are working or not. If the experiment fails, well, I will have a well nourished hoohoo at least. lol.

Wow, that's a scary thought! Bleaching your crack? I could not even imagine.

I would just exercise my way into lighter pigments - forget that!
