Question Bleeding between periods! Help!

Ugh, birth control & my body don't mix! On yaz, I had breakthrough bleeding and had a month long period, so I was put on Femcon which has 15 more mcg of Estrogen in it, my OB/GYN put me on it because she thought that my body wasn't getting enough estrogen.

I had two super short periods last month (my first month on Femcon) and I just thought whatever, my body is just getting used to the new hormones.

Well, I had my last period was December 29th-January 1. Now...its January 18th and I am bleeding!! Not heavy whatsoever, but still...I am bleeding and what the hell!

What is hell is going on here?? I don't want to be on a birth control pill that gives me two periods a month because then how the hell am I gonna know when I O when I go to TTC in June?

Gahhh, I am annoyed, someone please tell me they've had this!

Is there nothing physical that is causing it? I had an IUD which was irritating my uterus more than it was supposed to and that caused constant bleeding. The other time on Desogen/Marvelon was due to the progestogen not being strong enough. But that was just occasional.

I would recommend running two packs together (which is totally safe and effective), which can help stop the bleeding and help your lining to mend rather than to keep bleeding.

Hope this is helpful.

No, no IUD or anything, just bleeding...I hate it!! I don't dare taking two packs (1 because I dont have another pack and the pharmacy is closed and 2 my body reacts so strangely to everything)

I just dont know what the hell is wrong with me!! This is the THIRD month in a row I have had to deal with this!!

Aww hun, I know what it's like. If you can manage to get another prescription, I seriously recommend taking another pack without a break. Really the period is just a withdrawal bleed due to not taking the hormones, therefore you can control when this happens (in theory) and it is totally safe. It was recommended to me by my gynae when I was having mixed problems on the pill, and after a couple of 6 week cycles, I improved dramatically. In fact I prefer to do it this way, as it makes my life so much easier (less pain etc).

Otherwise have you thought of changing pill brands? I'm not sure which to suggest. I love Yasmin, and was usually good on Desogen, which are both anti-androgenic (Yasmin more so). Also Ortho-cyclen is meant to be good for bleeding problems, but I haven't tried it.

xx

I have been having the exact same problem as you. I'm on YAZ now (just switched from Mircette) and I start bleeding at the start of my 2nd week and it lasts for several days of spotting/bleeding and then again during my inactive week of pills. So, I also bleed 2 out of 4 wks on my pills. This has never happened to me before and I've been off/on BCPs since age 17.

I'll be so grateful for any advice/info/experiences.

OP, Thanks for asking this question so I didn't have to!

Well I would say that means you need more oestrogen, therefore Yasmin would be more suitable than Yaz, particularly if it continues for months. That way, your endometrium can build up rather than shed at the slightest movement! So perhaps ask for a 30mcg oestrogen pill. You could also tri bi-cycling it (2 packs without a break) as form my experience this really helps with that. xx

I have the same problem! Except I am not on BCP. I stopped taking BCP in October. Now, I have a period (it is much more than spotting) every two weeks. I bleed for 4-6 days on CD 15 and again on CD 28. It is like clockwork. I have no idea what is going on with my body.

I am having similar issues on Yaz. This was my first period with Yaz and I don't really like it....I have been bleeding (mostly clots, no real flow) for a week and a half. I am so frustrated about it. When I was on Nuva Ring I did not have this problem, it made me uncomfortable and ill for the most part so I changed to the Yaz, but this is just getting ridiculous.

I was switched to Femcon after having the same problems. in November i had a two week period, but it hasn't happened again since. another pill my gyno had me on was Loestrin, but after a year we switched to Femcon for ease, since theyre chewable.
