Hello I have been taking low overa I think is the name of the pill that my doctor gave me well yesterday I forgot to take it in the morning because I try to take it at the same time every day. Well I forgot to take it in the morning but took it by 4pm but from 7:15am to 4pm I started bleeding I took it on time this morning and more bleeding I am wondering if I should just take the sugar pills now and let my cycle run it's course of continue on the white pills. Does anyone else bleed while on the pill or have you ever started bleeding only a few hours after forgetting the pill. Any advice??? Thanks Tia

I was on the pill for 5 years and had no problems for the first 3 years, but then I started bleeding every cycle on days 16,17,and 18 like clockwork. I hadnt changed bcp when the bleeding first started but I changed after and it still happened no matter what pill i tried, the docs have never given me a reason as to why it was happening though, sorry

I also recently missed one pill. but I didn't know that I missed it, until 24 hours had passed & I went to take the next pill. However, within those 24 hours, I got my period and have had it ever since (been about 3 weeks....I just now finished my active pills, hoping a complete cycle (including blanks) will help bring about a normal AF and then my cycle will fix itself.
But for these past 3 weeks my flow has been very lite, barely enough to require a tampon or pad, but enough that I definitely need something.
So, I guess this wasn't of much help, but I also started bleeding within 24 hours of forgettin a pill (but usually it takes me 3-4 days after stopping the active pills before I get a period)....so this was very abnormal to me.

Actually right before I was DX with PCOS and my symptoms were just horrible (more hair groweth, extremely weight gain of 20 lbs in 3 months) if i took my BCP just slight late or missed it I would start. After that even w/out missing a pill I would start. It was crazy. The Dr. at first told me not to continue with the pack if I started and to let the AF go for 7 days and then start a new pack of pills. Things got to be all out of wack and I eventually stopped bcp and just started diet/exercise along with MET.
I think every woman can be different so please call your dr for advice, but wanted to let you know that you are not alone and it does happen.

I did *not* miss a single pill by as much as one hour the month my first child was conceived, though! So if you're using BC for actual BC, definitely don't rely on it until the next new cycle!
As far as whether to continue or stop now, definitely talk to your doctor, but I used to just wait for the bleed to stop and start over next cycle. Trying to resume never worked, and I'd just bleed through the remainder of that pill pack, *and* the sugar pill days. Ew. but that was me. And that was then.

Thanks for your replies and the support my doctor is on Vacation and has been for about 3 weeks now!! How nice I wish I could excape like that lol I have decided just to take the sugar pills and act as if this is my week for time to do that dreded thing and bleed and then go back to active bcp's after my sugar pills are done I hope I stop bleeding now that is my problem now that I have started I hope that I can stop!! I am glad that this has happened to others as well I just wish I could have one baby and then I would have my hystgerectamy (sp?) but I can't do that until I try to concieve at least one anyway thanks for the advice!!
