Default Blighted ovum @ 6 wks. Progesterone ?.

Hi all!

After ttc for 6 years, I finally got a bfp on February 2, 2009. I had some spotting on and off around the time af was due. I did not worry too much because I read that spotting around time af is due is "normal". Right at 5 wks, I started spotting heavily and did so until I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum and bled quite heavily for several days.

In researching blighted ovums, I read that women with PCOS and insulin resistance are much more likely to have a miscarriage due to hormonal issues. Many women say to have labs done to see if you need to be on progesterone supplements. My question is: At what point do you have the labs done? As soon as you get a bfp or sooner? My husband and I would like to try again right away but I want to learn more about progesterone.
(I am already on 1500 mg metformin per day. I have clomid but got my bfp before starting it.)

Also, another question. I usually ovulate between cd days 16-21 and my lp is usually 11-12 days. I read somewhere that the later you ovulate, the more chance you have of your eggs being of bad quality. Anyone know anything about this?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Default Labs

I got my BFP on a Friday and went in for my first labs on the following Monday to check the HCG levels and progesterone levels. On Monday afternoon, my RE called me and said my progesterone was at 23, which was normal - low (he likes to see at least 20). So he put me on 200 mg of progesterone 3 times a day through the first trimester. Unfortunatley, the baby stopped growing at 6 weeks but my progesterone levels were fine.

Ask for the labs as soon as you get your BFP next time! Good luck!!!
