Default bloated?

Does anyone else look or feel bloated ALL the time? I think it's water retention, or maybe I have IBS with constipation. Like it just never goes away... I've decided I'm going to try taking something for this. Any suggestions? Anyone taking Zelnorm? I'm just going to try something over the counter until I can get into my GI specialist. On my way to the pharmacy now!

Wink Same here...

I have felt really bloated on and off for almost 2 years (since going off the pill). I assume it's hormonal since it really started when I went off BCPs, but I'm not quite sure. I wish I had advice. I haven't gone to a specialist. I try not to eat too much sodium because it makes it really bad (although I do go crazy sometimes with chips). I also think that for me I just really need to lose weight. I've hit my all time highest, so I'm sure that my weight and lifestyle are contributing. Let me know what you discover.

Well I think I have my problem figured out. I have been taking 100mg of Doxycycline (an antibiotic) daily for my acne. I think I may have killed all the healthy flora in my intestines, and maybe have an overgrowth of yeast. My bloating came shortly after I started the antibiotics. I never put 2 and 2 together until today. I took an entire cocktail of drugs today, and my bathroom now looks like a pharmacy. Diurex (water pills) to get rid of any excess water weight around my abdomen, simethicone (anti-gas), Monistat for the yeast infection, Zantac to reduce my stomach acid, and some pills with Lactobacillus for IBS sufferers. (Yes I spent $45 at Rite Aid today.) I'm discontinuing the Doxycycline. The Lactobacillus should help re-flourish my intestines with the healthy bacteria. I'll give it about 2 weeks, and hopefully I notice a difference.

I've had this problem for as long as I can remember though, but it went away after I unintentionally lost a lot of weight. (I have this thread going on the Thin Cysters board too.) It only recently came back when I started the antibiotics. If this doesn't work, I'm blaming it on the hormones. I can't wait to get on Prednisone so I can get rid of the acne and feel like a normal human being again.

I always felt bloated until I went on a low carb diet but I'm not bloated so much now. I really notice it if I eat (for example) a small piece of bread, I feel so bloated after. Puts me right off eating it which is good!
