HSG...Oh no!! :(

Posted 05-29-2009 at 09:54 AM by barbieh007
Soon I am going to get a HSG I have read some blogs about it and heard its really painful..

Now I am nervous and I am pretty sure insurance doesnt cover it, it has not covered any other fertility tests. Just wondering if these are real expensive?

Any one have any advice or tips about this?

Thanks.. and no i havent, i didnt get to have it dont last month because the only place around where i live that would be able to do it was the hospital it cost about $2400 and the hospital wants atleast $500 upfront. And once they finally got back to me (the day I was suppose to have it done) they said my insurance would cover it but i had a 2500 deductible which for this does me no good. But with the help of one of the nurses at my obgyn's office we were able to find a place that does it for about $1600 and they will let me make payments if i have $300 upfront. But I called alot of imaging places and most of the ones I called did not do this test, it was very frustrating and the thought that none of this was going right drove me crazy but we have the $300 saved up for this month so I will be able to get it done.

thats weird, with my insurance, i had the procedure dont and then they sent me a bill.. but of course different states different policies.
The first time i had it done, it hurt because my tubes spasm. But when i went in the second time to "unblock" them because that was a possibilty, it went fine, they gave me some meds and it didnt even bother me. it was mild cramping.
So i hope u get it all figured out and everything goes well for u... GOOD LUCK =-)

thanks

I am praying for the best. I feel like sometimes I take things for granted. I prayed so hard last month and I said if my progesterone levels were even a little higher I would be thankful and I would feel like I was getting somewhere. but yesterday when i talked to the dr he did tell me my levels went from a 1 to a 2.5 i was still so upset and felt let down because I didnt ovulate but after thinking about it last night even though its not going the way I want it to I still should be thankful there was the tiniest bit of progress. I am trying so hard to think on a positive, I am such an emotional person and the littlest things bother me and upset me and I can cry so easily its hard for me to always think positive but just thinking the way I did last night does make me feel better I guess so I am going to try really hard to keep thinking that way.
