Diagnosed and did nothing about it till now, bad move....

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 7 years ago and I didn't think anything of it. I'm 28 now. I didn't know anything about PCOS at the time I was diagnosed because my doctor didn't elaborate on PCOS. I took birth control pills when I was 16 and stopped when I was 20 because I thought to myself that it would take me a long time to get pregnant when I stopped taking the pill. I had unprotected sex for about 5 years and did not get pregnant. I just thought I was good at avoiding to be pregnant. After the 5 years, I finally got pregnant. Yes, my pregnancy was an accident because we didn't plan on getting pregnant. Now that I want to get pregnant I'm finding it hard to get pregnant. This time when my doctor told me it was the PCOS, I looked into it. I did a lot of reserch. If I did my research when I was first diagnoised, I don't think I would have let it get this far. I should have seen the signs, 5 years of unprotected sex and then BAM pregnant. The oily skin, the acne not just on the face, but on my back too, the weird periods, first I would skip a month here and there then spotting for a bit, then I'd get the heavy flow as if I was bleeding to death. We've been trying to get pregnant for about 6 months now. My doctor told me that I need to try for about a year before he can give me something to help with the ovulation. But I want something more than that, I want something to help with the nasty side effects too! Can anyone tell me if they have taken any natural supplements for their PCOS symtoms?

Sept 15,2009 I visited the Infertility Specialist with my husband. It's been over a year and still not pregnant. I have been taking Clomid for 3 months now and the specialist said that clomid isn't doing anything for me. Next step is to try clomid and injections to help me produce and ovualte an egg. Next visit should be next October. 5 days of clomid and 5 days of injections in the stomach, wish me luck!

Honestly, our situation is quite similar as far as going untreated but diagnosed for years. I have heard a lot about vitex which is a herbal remedy. However, ask your doc about metformin. It is serving me well so far, and has helped hundreds of cysters get prego!!! Good luck!

I just recently started taking vitex, I love it. I am uninsured, so its cheaper and easier for me to go the "vitamin" route... vitex, cinnomin, b12 with folic acid... my periods are becoming more regular, and I take Omega 3, for the skin issues. Its extra pills then just the metformin, but i had terrible side effects from it so went this route. I have been trying to concieve for a year.... had a miscarraige then was Diagnosed with PCOS this past july... so... hopefully Ill have some good news about Vitex sooner rather than later lol.
