Me and PCOS

Well my PCOS diagnosis was given to me June 2006. I had no idea what was going on with my body... took 3 doctors to tell me what was going on! Anyway I was immediately prescribed birth control pills and give Nsaids for pain associated with my periods. I gained more weight and blood pressure went through the roof so I had to discontinue usage. I felt great no more symptoms.... about a year later BOOM symptoms are back with a vengence. Dr. also told me to watch my diet and loose a few lbs when she prescribed the meds, but of course, I ignored that. the next phase in the treatment would be more meds(Metformim) which she prescribed but I refuse to take. I have to go back to her in 3 months and I hope to have good news for her and in the kindest way I can I will tell her where to stick that prescription for metformin
.
I have been doing research on this subject and I have found that a lot of the symptoms that some suffer I do not have a problem with. I have only missed 1 period since my diagnosis( they are very regular but very very painful), my hair is thinning, and depression and of course the weight gain. I am not interested in having any more children in fact a had a tubal after my second child. I am mainly doing the research to find alternatives treatments for PCOS. I am going to change my eating habits to see if that will help me manage my PCOS. I willl keep everyone informed on my progress in the weeks to come. Any advise that you may have would be put to good use. I am determined to continue to live a full life despite this diagnosis.
