PCOS and Depo provera shot

Yes, in 1999 I was put on birth control. They asked me if I wanted the pill or the shot. Of course I chose the shot b/c they told me that after awhile I wouldnt have any periods of course that sounds great to an 18 yr old. After the 1st month I began to bleed nonstop and gained a lot of weight. This is when I first discovered I had PCOS. I dont know it was a coincidence, but I never had any problems until I took depo provera.

Strange, I've blamed the shot since I found out about PCOS... I was getting married and the shot sounded so nice! Then after a year on and getting depressed, and wanting to start a family, I had to be done with it, most of my symptoms started soon after. I have since sworn off hormonal B/C because of it.

Congratulations to you too! (for getting your AF). To answer your question I'm taking vitex, chromium picolinate, omega3's, a prenatal, progesterone cream, and vitamin C. As far as the depo shot, I definitely think that it has to do with our PCOS issues. When I was on BC I used the nuvaring, but I took a break from the ring for a little while and did the depo shot. After getting off BC I quit having AF and discovered the PCOS.

I think the shot gave my pcos, some doctors think that is the cause too! there doing research on it.....ill never go on b/c again! ever!!!!!!!!

I never had any severe issues with cysts. UNTIL I went off the shot. Soon after I was cut open and diagnosed with PCOS. This is makes me sick to my stomach.
