500 seems good to me

Posted 07-26-2008 at 02:13 PM by Patah83
Morning- fellow PCOSers I have been on the Met for a few days now and I am pretty happy! I am definitely going to go get some sublingual b12 because it does seem I have lost a tidbit of my spunk. I must say this stuff really works. I used to be so hungry all the time and now I actually feel full when I eat. All I have to do now is conquer my urge to overeat- but I must admit that is getting squelched pretty fast now that I actually feel full. It seems before Met I wouldn't get the signal of being full if ever. Anyway, I had plateaued with my weight loss which why I asked my doctor about the metformin. I went from 213 to 198 just on WW and good old fashion sweat, but then I just hovered at the 200 mark for awhile and my motivation and devotion to WW began to wain. Did I mention it took me like 4 months to lose that ...very slow progress indeed . My previous weight dropping 5 years ago was much more rapid. It required little diet change and just exercies. Of course, I was 19 so maybe my metabolism has plummeted since then or maybe I was becoming more insulin resistant Anyway, 198 was my lowest weight in almost three years and I didn't want to lose all my hardwork to frustration. So my doctor just did a fasting insulin not the fancy drinking stuff one and my blood sugar came back slightly elevated each time. With that and my informing her of the benefits of met for PCOSers, and a little bit of research on her part- I got a script of metforming 500mg per day. I was worried that wasn't going to be enough but this morning I cheated. I hopped onto the scale just to see what was going on. It read a very beautiful 197.6. Ahhh, I made some weight loss progress. No AF yet but I am awaiting her as I slide back into my health.
