I'm angry.

With typical self-esteem issues we can have as young adults and teenagers and the body issues you have to deal with whilst having PCOS I was reluctant for some years to enter a relationship. Turned out I was lucky enough to be blessed with a person more perfect than I could have hoped for one year ago. I never expected things with someone else could be so perfect, and beautiful and happy, and feel so right.
But some others who feel the need to have an unwarranted opinion are making an issue about the fact that we are 23 and 24 years old, and are serious about this for the first time.
I've never felt the need to put in my two cents regarding a friend's personal relationships. But apparently some people were used to me being forever alone and envious of them. When this stopped, they weren't very quick to approve, and react by believing the concept of me being with someone is a bit of a joke. I think the same thing is happening in my boyfriend's case.
We've had comments that it won't last, that you should 'never marry your first'
and that you can only grow as a person by having a number of casual sexual encounters.
Having never done so, we're 'immature'.
Oh yeah, we lost it to each other, so that obviously means we're childish for our age, and were never meant to get married.
I wish I had some words to throw their opinion back in their face.
It's hard when your not going to be taken seriously anyway because you 'don't know anything'.
I suppose being ranty and demanding to be taken seriously is a childish thing to do in itself, but I hardly see the people with these attitudes as knowledgeable and adult.
