Treatment 1

I had my chin/neck area treated on the 2nd of August. I'm not sure what type of laser is used and what setting but I'll find out at my next treatment on Septemeber 13th. I was treated at Mona Spa and am pretty excited about the results so far. I'm going to explain what treatment is like and post my reactions and results on my blog. I will take pictures right before my next treatment and immediatley afte, the following day and after the shedding.

The first treatment lasted about 45 minutes to an hour which was including the consultation. I didn't use any numbing cream but I did use ice during the treatment. She would do about five spots and then I would ice the area she just did and the area she was going to do. Now I am pretty tolerant to pain but when she got to the dense areas I yelped. Which she told me it wouldn't be as bad the next time and that the first treatment is always the worst. It feels like having a rubberband snapped on the skin and she explained it as having bee stings. I was slightly red and slightly puffy when I left the spa and the red wore off within an hour. I thought, "this isn't too bad." Well I was wrong

Upon waking up the next morning I was extremely irritated. My skin was dry and I had ant bite like bumps on my face that itched and hurt. I was kind of scared I was blistering. I wasn't though and took some more benadryl which I took before the treatment as well. My twin had a slight histamine reaction to her treatments so I expected it, almost. It lasted for over a week with me though. I used aloe, neosporin and neutrogena skin aid and iced it. But it felt like it would never go away. This is an extremely rare reaction I believe and I think it may be because I had been wet shaving for awhile and my skin was already irritated from that and my genetics.

I started shedding at the end of the first week. I have really thick dark hairs and those tiny ant bite bumps were from my skin being irritated by those "dead" hairs. Around day 7 I began to LIGHTLY exfoliate in the shower and then sat down with a magnifying mirror and tweezers. Now I know I'm going to hear it from people on how you should leave them alone but my skin wasn't pushing them out and they were becoming ingrown and painful and weepy. My skin had gotten tough over the ant bite bumps. After I exfoliated in the shower it sloughed off the tough skin and i used the tweezers to guide the hair to the surface and to not be sideways. After that I could just touch them and they slid out. I shed for the next two days and my skin healed up fast after that.

At this point you can't tell I had a poison ivy like reaction two weeks ago and you can't tell that I have a hair issue It's costing me $175 a treatment and they are wanting me to start out doing them every 6 weeks. It's worth it. I wish I would have done this ages ago. You don't have to let your hair grow out before the treatment but you CAN NOT pluck or wax or do anything that rips the hair out by the root for 6 weeks before and all during treatments. So you have to shave. But you can shave right before treatment if you have to.

I'm extremely happy with it even if I have to do this forever. My boyfriend was sitting outside with me tonight and said, "your face is all cleared up and you it looks great." I've gone to the store without makeup on and I've not rushed around to get "decent" if someone was coming over and I hadn't done my daily maintenance. It's been worth it and I'd recommend anyone who can do it.

I'll put pictures up and keep you updated after my next treatment. Hope this helps anyone with questions about LHR.

My hopes go out to you. I've always thought about having this done. I've avoided it not because of the pain, but because of the bumps, irritation, and fear that it would just grow back.

It would be dreamy to be able to leave the house without the daily "maintenance". I can only remember what that used ot be like, years ago.

Good luck!
