Default Blood clots the size of quarters?

*WARNING TMI WARNING TMI WARNING TMI WARNING TMI WARNING TMI*

I just started AF on Thursday and today its so heavy I'm going through a super tampon and super pad in a 1/2 hr. When I went out shopping I bled through my undies and pants. I have blood clots the size of quarters in the toliet. Does anyone else have this issue??? I think I need to eat something with lots of iron.

How long has it been since your last AF? If its been a while (a few months), that could be why. It isn't that you are bleeding more than you should, it is that all that blood that SHOULD have been gotten rid of over the months is all coming out at the same time. It won't deplete your iron, if that is what is happening.

BTW... I had the same thing happen to me. I had gone 2 years w/o AF, then I went through a round of provera, and barely spotted for a week. Then I started the pill, and when I got AF from that... it was like a RIVER... and big clots, too.

Is there a chance you could have been pregnant? If so, this may be a miscarriage. If the heavy bleeding continues like this tomorrow, call your doctor and get some medical advice on what you should do.

I have the same thing and mine are sometimes bigger than that even! Its weird I've been on this AF since Oct. It will go light, then I will pass a clot, go heavy for a moment, then its back to light again. Very very weird. I know I need to get to the dr, just to be sure, but I figure its just my body "catching up" after not having an AF for a while, as I have happen, but I agree, go get checked out, just to be safe.

I have periods like that all the time. I can even be laying flat in bed and it will wake me up. I am pretty normal as far as frequency of af. I have been on bcp for 6 months and this has helped some, but the first couple of months were just as bad. I would get your dr or the nurse on the phone and see what they say. If you have pain with the flow that is uncontrolable, definately get into a clinic somewhere.

So many things to freak me out It's still really bad, the only thing is, I don't have health insurance until Febuary sometime. I had AF last month about this time, but it was not as heavy and prolonged as this. I guess DH is going to have to shell out 180$ to see my gyno this week. I'm really worried about this. A few years ago I ended up in the emergency room with this exact same problem and I don't want to end up doing it again. Thanks for your concern guys! It makes me feel better when people take the time to care!
