Hello. I went to the gynecologist because i have excess hair and acne and my periods can be unpredictable sometimes.
i got the complete blood word done and my appointment with the gynecologist is not until next week.
HOWEVER, I RECEIVED A COPY OF MY BLOOD WORK in the mail today(weird). i am trying to make sense of it. apparently everything is in range(what ever that means) but my DHEAS are 431. and it should be between 35-430.
Also I got my the blood test on the 15th day of my cycle. what is the best time to get tested?
PLEASE HELP. I am here trying to play doctor.
appreciate ur help.
I got blood work on the 15 day of my cycle. MY LH is 21.4 and my FSH is 4.5
i read that they have to be equal. I AM SO WORRIED. please someone any advice.
LH/FSH ratio should be 1:1, but for many of us with PCOS that is not the case, and in fact this is one of the things that doctors may look for when seeking a diagnosis of PCOS.
Are you currently taking any meds to control PCOS? I would wait and discuss the result with your doctor. Also there is a link at the top (i think) of this page that should take you to some awesome info about all of this stuff and give you more information.
Don't worry too much. The odd ratio is common with PCOS'ers with period problems. Hopefully with treatment that will come down closer to the 1:1 ideal range.

hello. does it matter when the lh and fsh levels were checked. my blood test was on the 15 day of the cycle and i read that LH levels can spike during mid cycle.

Are you scared you have PCOS? Because that's all those lab tests seem to be indicating. None of your numbers indicate some deadly illness or anything. So, with your symptoms, and numbers, possible PCOS, though they'll have to rule some other stuff out.
I guess, what are you scared of, exactly? With hair issues and an irregular period, you knew something was wrong to talk to your doc about. This is just confirmation that you were right. I mean, it's better to have a diagnosis, so they can do something about it, than it is to not have one and let it get worse and worse, right?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Of course the game is rigged. Don't let that stop you--if you don't play, you can't win.
I really don't have an answer as to how your cycle day impacts your results. How long is your cycle normally? Is day 15 mid-cycle for you?
What are you afraid of now?
Try not to worry about fertility problems. They are just one symptom of PCOS (some women with PCOS have no problem getting PG at all), and most women do go on to have babies.
At your next appointment, I'd speak with your doctor about the elevated DHEA-S...if you're having any hyperandrogenic symptoms (hirsutism, scalp hair loss, acne) then perhaps it's originating from this adrenal hormone.
I had my tests done at Labcorp, when I got them back they actually included what the test range is for each time of the month.I know that different Labs sometimes use their own ranges, but here are the ranges given on mine. But as I understood it, it is based more on the ratio I guess.
In order to diagnose me, my gyn sent me for blood tests on the 3rd day of my cycle. For whatever reason, it seems like a lot of people are sent for blood tests on the 3rd day of their cycle. I don't know what the reasoning is but I am sure there is one...or two....or three....or a bunch!
