Default Blood Sugar Control/ Met

Any thin cysters have a really hard time controlling blood sugar and have wild blood sugar swings? I tried for a very long time to control my sugar with diet but it just didn't work, even when my BMI was at 17!! Now that I am on Met Xr 500 things have really settled down. I wonder why this would be true, and at such a low dose? Anyone had the same experience? Oh, and I should mention that I tried all those low-carb no-sugar diets and even then couldn't control the sugar and keep it under 120 (after meals). Thanks for any insight!
