Default blood sugar and menses

I always thought that your blood sugar would be low during your period, however I have my period right now and my blood sugar was higher than normal today. Is this normal?

Yes. It's also normal for your iron to be high during AF, too.

That is very normal. If you google that you will see that ii is very common. Some women, who are on insulin, have to adjust their meds during af and sometimes , up to a week before (PMS).

ETA, Any time there is something different going on, you will notice that your sugar levels are off. Like the cold or flu. You may not even realized you are going to be sick but a few days before the onset of symptoms, your sugars will be higher than they normally are.

So I take it it's actually a good thing? Does your body somehow go into hyper gear to prevent low blood sugar?

It's not a good thing because if you don't follow your sugars, then they can get high. It means that you may have to adjust your meds or diet during that time to keep them in a good range.
