I read on here that when taking spiro you should have your potassium levels checked regularly. My doctor didn't recommend that. I am on 100mg of spiro. If this is whats the norm, I am a little discouraged with my doctor. Do those on spiro have your levels checked regularly? If so, how often?

I'm not on Spiro (aldactone). But, I'm not sure why they would have to keep monitoring your potassium level while on it, because aldactone is a potassium-sparing diurectic...so it doesn't deplete the potassium in your body.

Sorry I can't help, but I'm curious. If you find out why they hafta monitor your potassium, please share

It doesn't deplete it. But too much potassium is dangerous as well.

spiro is a potassium-sparing diurectic it can deplete the amount of potassium in you body and increase it which can be potentionaly dangerous to your kidneys especially when taking yaz or yasmin because they contain a special kinda hromone which may incrase potassium along with the spiro i take 100mg twice a day and have my levels checked every 6 monthes
