Default body fat percentage and fast metabolism

I was just wondering if anyone had any good info on how to increase your body fat percentage? I am underweight and doc says I need to gain weight. my BMI is 17 and my body fat percentage is 19. Any help would be great. I have a very fast metabolism also.

I was told the same thing and have gained about 10 lbs over the last 5 months. I switched from non-fat yogurts and milk to low or full fat and from diet ice creams to regular, etc. I also added in an extra morning and afternoon snack: it doesn't have to be anything huge. If I wasn't that hungry I just had a latte instead of my usual coffee or you could have a protein bar. I also added nuts to my cereal in the morning and put milk in my coffee/hot chocolate. And then I randomly ate spoonfuls of peanut butter throughout the day which probably helped too!! I exercise a lot and have had some problems with anorexia in the past so it wasn't really that fun for me but I just kept thinking that I need to do it to get pregnant so keep that in mind. And I actually think I look a lot better now; so does hubby! He likes my "big boobs" : ) GL to you!

thanks for the response. I have tried alot to gain weight and have managed to gain a pound so far. but the metformin oddly enough seems to help as I have to eat all the time to avoid the side effects. so hopefully I will get there.
