Body hair removal products/methods..Cysters lets let each other in on what works best

Hey there.. until I can get laser one day.. I have to find methods myself to remove the dang hair. Right now I use the finishing touch on my face..its not painful, it works very easily, main problem is it doesnt get close enough. On my body.. right now I'm using the Schick intuition razer.. besides not having to buy shaving cream and it being really easy.. it does not nick me at all somehow.... I hate being cut.. I'm the worst shaver in the world, I spend like 1 minute on it and press down hard.. this is the only razer that usually doesn't nick unless I'm getting very clumsy..plus it makes my legs soft after the shower. I like hot waxing done at the salon.. it stays smooth for a long time..and they don't injure me like I would..but its expensive, and I don't want to have larger areas done...and I have SUCH sensitive skin ...especially on my face..it about scarred me for life getting my face waxed. Okay.. no other razor, venus, etc has been good on my body.. Nair and Neet SUCK..they totally boiled my skin off my legs and the face dipilatory OMG it about KILLED my skin. I refuse to shave my face or neck... I do not heal well at all and my skin is soooo sensitive.....I'm not risking nicks. I'm wondering about other gizmos..like that new one thats suppposed to 'sand' away the hair.. interesting..but I'm afraid it would take my skin off... I'm very sensitive... Is veet mousse much more gentle than Nair? If its the same, I couldn't use it.. Nads is AWFUL, it ripped my skin off and it didn't work at ALL. Those sally hansen cold wax strips.. they were awful..they made me bleed and gave me ingrown hairs worse than anything ever...... The microwave wax was better.. but it still takes my skin off..lol. So whatever you do at home...epillators..razors..depillatories..home waxes.... give us the scoop on what works for you please? Thanks cysters!

I actually go to an esthetician (sp?) for threading and waxing.
I get my full face threaded every 2 weeks and arms waxed every 4 weeks. I haven't gotten anything else done because I'm embarassed to let her see any other part of my body.
In between the appointments I pluck those lovely coarse chin hairs, and any other coarse strays that are noticeable and since my hair is long, the sideburns don't really show. Summer is the hard part, lucky for me my office is usually cold due to the a/c and I can get away with wearing long sleeves.
As for the rest of my body, I don't really do anything except shave my legs when I need to, and trim "down there". I just don't have the patience to remove it all over my body. Lucky for me, my BF doesn't mind...he tells I'm beautiful just the way I am.

I just started laser treatments in January and love it! Prior to that I tweezed my chin and sideburn area at least once a day. I bleached my mustache once a week or every other week. My arms are very hairy, but this has never bothered me. I shave my legs every day during the summer and every other day in the winter.

I tweeze and use the Finishing Touch thing, though it doesn't really work on the coarser hairs. I use an electric razor everywhere else that it is needed. I hate waxes and those removal creams and stuff.

juicieey, what's threading?

I shave. Everywhere. I'd much prefer to wax, as the results are better, but I can't afford it right now. (and I hate having to let the hair grow to a certain length! I don't know what it is, but I feel dirty when there's hair on my face....weird.)

I prefer it to waxing my face because it doesn't pull the skin, and I always get compliments on my eyebrows because of the shape.

For the life of me I can't remember the name of the laser. I want to say pulse light something. I'm sorry.

As for cost....my dermatologist charges $100 per treatment or you can buy a package of 3 treatments for $250. Even if I have to have 9 treatments that is only $750 compared to the quote of a minimum of $2000 from a cosmetic surgeon who did laser treatments. And that was only for 4 treatments! Talk to your GYN about a referral to a dermatologist. They may know someone that specializes in dealing with PCOS patients. That is where I got my referral.

That's a lot cheaper than what I've been able to find ($179 is the lowest or $550/hr. Well hope it works great for you! I'm thinking maybe it would be worth it just to drive from CA to NV for treatment.

magic is nice. it's mild and doesn't burn and removes hair well. I use it on my stache and it's great, maybe it can be used on other areas as well?

Hi -

I live in Kansas City and drive to Wichita a lot (to pick up/drop off step daughter).

On the way back from Wichita the other day I heard a snippet on the radio of a commercial for hair removal at a tanning salon in Topeka. The part of the commercial I did hear offered safe, affordable, permanent hair removal - and that it was an alternative to laser hair removal.

Being that Topeka is nowhere near the cultural mecca of the universe I was hoping someone somewhere else in a larger metro area would have heard of something similar?

Logic tells me that it's not electrolysis, but then again - they never said it wasn't electrolysis. I didn't catch the name of the salon or the treatment type. Calls/emails to the radio station have also yielded no results.

Please respond if you have any info.

I'm sorry, I forgot already who posted it, but I'm curious - what is Magic?

I use Nads on my upper lip and side burns and do some tweezing here and there to clean everything up. I like Nads, it has always worked well for me. I've been using it for like 3 years.

I was unsuccessful with both Nads and the 'cold wax' type strips. My body temp seems to stay too high for the Nads, it just melted and oozed down my face. My face seems to be too greasy or something for the cold wax strips to work - it pulls nothing away at all.

I've tried the at home 'professional' hot wax with the applicators and fabric strips, but the mess and clean up was worse to me than plucking.

I use Nair on my upper lip and coarse hair under my chin area back to my throat. I do a lot of plucking, getting real waxing done when I can and stay away from shaving except in extreme circumstances.
