Default body odor

Hi I have an embarassing problem. I have bad BO and I sweat a ton. My face gets greasy and I have sweat that stinks under my arms, despite daily showers and deodorant. In fact, I've tried Secret, Arm and Hammer, Lady Mitchem, and many others and none are that good! I have to throw my clothes away because they eventually become permanently sweaty. I have a feeling this is not normal at all! Anyone else have this and how do you make it stop?

I used to have a problem with excessive underarm sweating. I asked my doc about it and he gave me some kind of liquid stuff to put under my arms. It was supposed to stop the sweat glands from producing sweat. I really cant remember just what it was called but I'm sure if you ask your doc, he or she will know what you mean. Hmm, maybe it was called Drysol. As for the face, I havent quite found anything that works yet.

BTW, I have found that the best deoderant for me is Soft & Dry, you might wanna give that a shot and see if its any good for you. I know that no matter what kind of Secret I use, it still sucks!

Get Drysol. It changed my life. I can leave home without fear of humiliating sweatiness. I used to soak a shirt before 10 am, now I barely sweat at all if any even. It's available over the counter in canada, not sure about elsewhere. Don't be off put by the price, which seems a bit high for such a small container ($20 CAN for me) but that container will last you 6-8 months. Good luck!

I had that problem too. I started using my husband's deoderant. It works. I guess the manufaturers think men need the stronger stuff. So, from now on, I'm using Speed Stick clearstick aqua sport scent.

My brother has always had a serious sweating issue. His shirts would be so stained that he would also have to throw them out. No ordinary deodorant/antipersperant would help.. it would wear out after only a couple of hours. His doctor recommended a product called Certain Dri that is prescription strength, but you do not need a prescription to get it from the pharmacy. It works against the excessive perspiration and for my brother actually stopped the problem. He feels normal again. You apply Certain Dri at bedtime and then use a regular deodorant during the day. My brother was still worried about the odor, but after a week of faithful use, the odor stabalized so that the regular deodorant took care of that as well. I hope this might help.

thanks for all the replies! i am going to move into the men's deo department soon. Sounds like it will work better on my smelly pits. For those of you who use the stronger stuff, are there side effects? Is it just a concentrated form of deoderant? Thanks!

I asked my brother about side effects for the Certain Dri. He said that it is very important to follow the directions which call for a few strokes only and to use sparingly at bedtime. He said he also finds if he puts his arms down before it's dry, he develops a light rash.
It's main ingredient is 12% aluminum chloride.
He's been using this for a few years now and is very happy with the results. The only problem is that he can only find it at CVS pharmacy in our area.

I've also heard that you can get botox injections in the underarm area to stop sweating altogether. Heard the hollywood folks were getting this so as not to mess their expensive dresses.

Have you had bloodwork done to rule out a thyroid problem?

I've heard that facial sweating is due to a hormone imbalance.. I think it's something that is low, maybe estrogen... not sure. Have you had your estrogen and progesterone levels checked lately?

I have always had a kind of pungent body odor, luckily I don't sweat unless I'm vacuuming or working out (what IS IT about the vacuum??) but I generally do not smell like a girl!

Now that I'm on progesterone however WOW my smell has lightened up... and my DH swears that my BO smells "just right" and "like a girl now".

Hi Ladies

I hate to admit it, but i've always suffered badly with this problem.

Very noticeable patched on clothes, having to throw clothes away all the time, fear of being close to anyone......

I've found a solution that you use a couple of times a week, you put it on at night then wash off in the morning then use a normal deodorant each day. I've had some irritation because it's very strong (it was very bad at first). Once i got used to it, it went away. It's come back a bit recently, but not too bad (it's worth it!!)

It's made a huge difference to me. I still sweat (alot) nowhere near as much under my arms though (and it doesn't smell!!!)

I do sweat alot on my face and back, but i can just about live with that.

I hope you find something that works for you, it really can make a huge difference to how you feel.

Best of Luck.
