It vqaries from woman to woman on how long Metformin can take to settle into your body. I don't want to be negative but some sufferers don't experience any benefits at all.
In my case, it took about a month to regulate my cycle, four to five months till my acne cleared up, I've been on it a year, and only recently started losing weight, especially since I started watcfhing what I ate more.
I've been taking cinnamon supplements to, and for me they are controlling my hunger and sweet cravings.

Everyone is different. I gained and have kept on 20 pounds after starting Met. It did not bring back my periods alone. After I was put on other medications did I get my period back and my weight only comes off if I exercise alot. It does come off a little easier with the exercise than before I was on it. On the other hand it does keep my sugar levels in the normal range and keeps me from being diagnosed as daibetic,

Good Luck.
